This is what a REAL playoff team does. While I'm not counting this team out the Flames are making the Wild WORK for their chances. If the Wild want to establish their offense the Flames make them PAY. This is what I'm talking about. The Wild are having trouble matching the Flames energy for a long period of time. They are trying to play the Flames game, but they aren't built for that style for a whole entire game. This team loves to skate and skate pucks through. They have grit, but not the full ingredients of being a playoff machine. They aren't used to this. The Flames are a better version of the Jets. The way the Jets played us is how the Flames are playing us except with more depth and talent.
Welcome to playoff hockey Wild. Where you have to EARN your opportunities every step of the way. Earn your respect. No one's going to play nice or fair. Take charge. Build your personnel of not being pushed around. This is where we need more fearless competitors. More size on the blueline. More built forwards who play hard, but have the skill to burn you. Especially at the center position. My god we need puck carrying centers. This team is being overmatched. As the competition gets harder and feisty the Wild can't match energy and we look like THIS! Mental weakness.

Predicting that the slide continues. God I hope I'm wrong.
Quote:
Predicting we get stomped tonight, then we start a new points streak.
Quote:
Calgary is a big physical team. Looked like the Varsity vs JV last game.
Quote:
Anyone expecting lots of fights tonight?
Quote:
possibly. definitely more checking. if one of our guys gets flattened yeah there will be a fight.
Quote:
Boys are really going to have to limit turnovers, have much better neutral zone play and zone entries. The FEED line and 4th line are going to have to match the physicality of the Flames, get pucks deep, forecheck heavy and get shots on goal.
Quote:
Calgary positioning and feet always moving, always sticks on sticks, and bodies on bodies. Even strength or short-handed. Just out-matched in every possible way.
Chucky off to a great start
Quote:
PK already? I see nothing has changed.
Quote:
Why would you leave him open?
Quote:
Alright, cya next time.
Quote:
I hate playing against Tkachuk, but man oh man, if he was on our team?
Quote:
Such a lazy defensive play by Goligoski. We'd best move on from him this offseason he's getting worse as the season goes on.
Quote:
That was fast... ugh!!
Quote:
Really hope Tam Calbot got the memo about this whole redemption thing...
Quote:
PK 25 seconds in .. oh boy
Quote:
Jesus…another real great start.
Quote:
giving up a PP goal, great way to start
Quote:
man this better not be a repeat of last game ffs
Quote:
Wow we are getting absolutely bullied by the Flames and it’s 45 seconds in.
Quote:
Dude what the ####, I tune in a minute late and this is what I get.
Quote:
I know I’m being pissy but why the #### does tkachuck even have a mouth guard…dude looks like he’s chewing on a week old straw. #### the flames
Mangiapane plays some Pinball
Quote:
Somebody run that rat dick Mangiapane please
Quote:
Really? That's how we get scored on there?
Quote:
Pull your heads outta your asses and skate. Guys are too eager to pass the puck and it's causing all kinds of turnovers.
Quote:
More of the same against teams much bigger than us.
Quote:
This team looks like an absolute shadow of its former self
Quote:
Weird how the “puck luck” just keeps not going our way…..
Quote:
This team LITERALLY has negative puck luck. I haven't seen #### like this in such a long time. 0 lucky bounces for us. Puck rolls off a skid in the ice. I mean we suck right now sure, but like, wow! The luck.
Quote:
Both goals they've scored have been lucky bounces ending up right on their sticks. At least we're showing some physicality and grit. Lots of hockey left to play
Quote:
I want to see the same kind of confidence we saw in this team earlier in the season. If they want to prove everyone wrong then they have to FIGHT and make the most of their opportunities presented to them. The Wild need to learn to overcome pressure and embrace the struggle. Then suddenly we break out for 2 quick goals out of nowhere.
WILD...WHERE ARE YOU????
Lindy with a One-Timer
Quote:
I would like a goal before the intermission.
And slow down there monkeys paw, I mean a Wild Goal
Quote:
Aaaaaand there it goes
Quote:
Oh, one of these games tonight.
Quote:
That was the happiest 12 seconds I've had in a while lol
Quote:
Can we get some Boldy magic please?
Quote:
Was that the magic you were hoping for? Lol
Quote:
That.. that’s not what I meant by Boldy magic…
Quote:
Shoot Goligoski into the sun
Quote:
What was Sturm doing on that play?
Quote:
Holy #### when was the last time the Wild didn't let a team score 5 seconds after us.
Quote:
Yup turning it off now. Going to the gym instead. Y'all have a good one. Maybe I'll check on the 3rd but this team isn't fun right now.
Quote:
What other team let’s their star player get bullied?
Quote:
We just have no answer for Calgary's game at all
That sick, familiar feeling
Quote:
Still no shots on goal
Quote:
Winning a faceoff would be nice
Quote:
I've got a knot in my stomach watching this game. anyone else?
Quote:
This dump and chase is so ####ing dumb
Quote:
UPDATE sql.offensive_zone
SET shots_on_net = all_players
WHERE cute_passes = 1
Quote:
They need a whole practice dedicated to entering the zone with speed. Seems like everyone just slows up looking for a drop pass or support.
Quote:
Cringe ass effort. This team is no longer fun to watch, what boring ####ing play.
Quote:
Watching them try to play Calgary is like watching them try to play the Blues of a few years ago. No match for their physicality all over the ice and a completely inability to get to scoring areas.
Quote:
I’m sorry but we’re actually just so bad at this point.
Quote:
Lately watching this team is like choosing to play a Dark Souls game
Quote:
"I think they've still got more in the tank." Yeah, I'd ####ing hope so, Carts.
Quote:
#### they could probably play two games tonight if they're gonna skate like that
Old-School Modern Warfare
Quote:
This Calgary team is an old school style team. They play a modern dirty style.
Quote:
Calgary: Dirty shot, Dirty shot, Dirty shot
Wild: Yells in their face, get punched in the face
Calgary PP
Quote:
You know, they’re ####ing goons, but as someone said, the Flames are built for playoff hockey. These guys, if they can keep it together, may have a cup run or two in their future.
EwW, I need a shower after saying that. I feel dirty.
Quote:
Yo wtf was monahan doing there?
Quote:
Not sure how much more of this I can watch tonight.
The Flames are a decent team, but they're by no means impressive compared to the top teams. Middle of the pack.
The Wild just continue look out of sync and a step behind everything.
They just look like they have very little confidence and the first half of the season mojo is gone.
Also, Tkachuk may be an even bigger c*** than his old man.
Quote:
Someone hit ta#### with a beer bottle
Quote:
Calgary is dirty af. They literally opened the bench door so that mf could push Duhaime into their bench
Quote:
Love the flame that cracked the door open. Do Flames have a training class at being #######s?
Quote:
Lol the ref see’s Tkachuk and immediately tells him to back up knowing he’s trying to stir #### up
Quote:
I hope I’m not the only one who wants ####chuck’s jaw broken
Quote:
I don't like it, but someone is going need to start taking runs at the opo stars.
Quote:
Lucic just looks like a bowling ball out there
Quote:
I don't even care if we win I just want someone to punch Milan Lucic square in the face.
And Mattias Ohlund, but he's probably not at the X tonight.
Quote:
Matthew Tkachuk: "You get a punch, you get a punch, everybody gets a punch!"
Quote:
#### that Zadorov is a massive MFer
Quote:
All I saw was Hartman get tossed like rag doll.
Quote:
Zadorov has half a foot and 40lbs on him
Quote:
If that was his way of trying to rile up the team, it was rather stupid.
Tyler-Foli Cannoli
Quote:
This feels…familiar.
Quote:
#### it I'm not watching, gl boys
Quote:
####ing knew it as soon as we lost the faceoff
Quote:
Funny to see the crowd who was all “this is pathetic the team isn’t even trying” last game now switching over to “trying isn’t good enough”
Quote:
How about that depth
Quote:
Bad defensive coverage, but Talbot come on man!!!
Quote:
Come on Talbot. You need to stop those 8 deflection shots. /s
Quote:
How about that chemistry
Quote:
#### it. G'night everybody. I got an early meeting. Might as well hit the hay.
Quote:
Well that didn’t work.. oh I know let’s do the same exact #### and let them put up another ####ing goal on us. What utter stupidity
Backlund into the EN
Quote:
I never understand why dean empties the net when the game is literally unwinnable.
Quote:
Just for ####s and giggles
Quote:
Calgary obviously let off this third period and we still don't even have any decent chances.
Quote:
At least we aren’t the Sharks. Won 3 of last 13
Quote:
Inspiring 6 on 5 play lol
Quote:
Flames look like contenders.
Wild look like pretenders.
Quote:
Tom Kurtz is talking about how fatigued the Wild must have been on their roadie across Canada...
Quote:
and that is another stinkerrr
Quote:
i really hope this slump isn’t like the one from a few years ago when we started out so hot
A Special Kind of Hell
Quote:
This season feels like the ultimate pits of despair. Neither TO or Calgary ever lose.
Quote:
The Flames do this every few years. They explode one year. Like the year they finished tops in Pacific. They had one more good year after. Now the are doing this. Zero injuries. Not having to play games with Covid ravages players like most of the league. JG playing at a 100 pace. Mangiapane having the ghost of Rocket Richard enter his body.
Guys they grilled "Tre" about "Gudbranson/Zadarov" playing well. Markstrom rebounding. Them having 11 shutouts.
Good on them, even though I cannot stand them. They are pretty much running away with it now. 7 points up on us with like 3 games in hand?
It will probably be Vegas against us/La/ANA
Toronto has good puck possession forwards overall. They don't have some garbage 4th line they cannot play. Matthews and Marner are just scorching hot. Their Achilles will be D and their goalies. Might win a round this year, but in a tough division.
Quote:
It's uncanny how that team goes through peaks and valleys.
Every other year they tick off these boxes:
- Incredibly, frustratingly healthy for the whole year
- Everyone on their team clicks and has a career year
- They rip off a 10+ game winning streak
- They finish 1st and the media start hyping them as "contenders"
- They have a statistically incredible trait (# of shutouts this year, last minute comebacks in years past)
- They flail out in the first round (knock on wood)
Then the next year, just when you think "#### they might actually be good," they check off these boxes:
- The players that all had career years the year prior look like ####
- Team goes on a massive losing streak at some point
- They become incapable of scoring any goals
- They miss the playoffs
Then, just when you think "ok, this team is going to really hit the gutter this year," they go back to the "peak" version of the team and randomly finish in first place. They've pretty much been following this very cycle for almost 10 years now (at least). I can't recall any other team in the NHL so consistently achieving these highs and lows in such a consistent and similar way.
Quote:
I don't think those inbred Flames will lose again unless markstrom gets injured with how much he plays.
Quote:
That Lindholm goal they just showed is what we need more of. Just a one timer from the top of the circles and he gets lucky with a deflection. We need to stop passing it to the point all of the time. I think we are first in the league in dmen shots attempted.

Tuesday night against the Minnesota Wild, the absolute stereotype of a guaranteed snooze fest. On top of that, Coach Dinosaur and his boring Sutter hockey.
No wonder teams get relegated when they put out a product like this and call it entertainment. I mean, did either team even get a shot on goal?
Wake me when the paint is dry.

from the ATL, what a strange rant equal parts specific and random. I mean sure the Flames are having some luck injury wise, they are also on pace for 109 points- a number the Oilers have not matched since 99 was on the team, in fact since he left the Oilers have topped 95 points (snek anyone?) ONCE. ONCE in 34 years. Flames aren't even good and they've about to do it for the 11th time. At least the Flames are more unpredicatable that start the season as annointed Cup favorites, go on an early hot streak, then play like always
