What about Winnipeg ...in two years they went from 12 votes to zero ... I don't believe this article to be honest .

Wait, so the difference between say 5th most disliked vs. say 15th (I have no idea where the cut off is between 1 agent and 0 agent lol) is a whopping 1 more agent out of 20 agents telling clients to avoid Calgary?

I’ve been all over NA, and I really believe there’s no better city to raise a family than here. We still have a bit more of a small town feel than other cities, with comparably low crime, good schools, lots of lakes and green space, and the mountains nearby. From what I’ve seen and heard, we have a great reputation in the States with people who have visited.

Exactly.... that's why Edmonton is not on this list, they always overpay and that's all the agent really cares about - s/he doesn't have to live there, the player does.

I would suspect that an agent with a large number of players is never going to make any team off-limits for all their players. On the other hand, an agent with a large number of players is going to have many with NTCs, which is a different decision.
An agent might have half a dozen players with Winnipeg on their NT lists, but another one of that agent's players might be going into free agency and be a perfect fit for what the Jets are looking for.

Not disagreeing with you but I personally wouldn't put too much stock in this if I was a player. I mean, literally half of your games are played in a completely different rink. And we're not talking about fan amenities, we're presumably talking about the locker room, fitness centre, training facilities, and if applicable, a practice rink. I don't think these guys are spending much time outside of these areas, and I would assume the Flames facilities are at least comparable to others (the Dome may be old but I don't think there are issues with mold, sewage, etc.).

Best teams in the NFL: Cincy, Buffalo, KC
Milwaukee, Utah, Cleveland, Memphis all looking good in the NBA.
Too much focus on desirability of the city IMO. There are only 32 NHL teams and there is a salary cap.
It's just not that big huge a factor IMO. There are very, very few players taking discounts to play in city of their choice.

Fitness centre is small, locker rooms are small, ice is crap, these things absolutely matter to players. This is where they go to work after all

Yes, and although they say the 20 agents surveyed collectively represent about a quarter of all the players under contract, some agents have dozens of clients, some only have 1.
Unless those two agents are some of the big names like Oster or Barry, it likely doesn't make a difference. Oster has at least one player signed by every team -- including 5 in Arizona, so he isn't likely steering any of them away from anywhere.

I think Calgary is great. Many of us in this thread will no doubt share that opinion.
Perhaps the Flames are not great though. That is worth discussing. Just arena? Maybe. I am concerned that's not it though.

Can't debate size but if ice quality has anything to do with it, Saddledome is still top five according to NHL players (this is from 2018 but I don't think a lot has changed since then): https://www.bardown.com/nhl-players-...y-on-1.1020159

The last time they did that poll, Vegas had bumped the Saddledome out of the top 5, but it was presumably still pretty high.

There's a specific poll about the Canadian question.
The comments from the agents suggest that it is in fact about the COVID rules, and taxes. The difference in opinion seems to be that the people who are concerned about their clients signing in Canada are of the view that COVID isn't going away and this will continue to be an issue, versus the people who think it's only really a problem if you're signing short-term.

Agents voted on this. Have you seen an agent lose a negotiation to Edmonton in 20 seasons?
Also, Calgary has 2 votes. Kinda meaningless.
