Lucic starts out with a nice hit on Juolevi, Rasmus scores an intense goal, Monahan posts two, including a nice patient one, Chuckie has a great play, Gudbranson was a wall on the PK, Markstrom made a bunch of nice plays and Johnny was fire.

If the Flames play like that (it won't always go their way) they are in the convo with Vegas for the division

6 points back with 5 games in hand isn't really that huge a stretch. Especially with 28 home games left.

We had a big Covid outbreak at work. 10 days out, young strong guys were saying they had about 75% strength. From the result tonight, it looks like the flames have recovered and we all can have good things to look forward to, in what has been a bleak two years.

I think they'll be neck and neck once the games are made up.

Both .600 teams. Calgary with a better goal differential.

The most important thing is getting this Markstrom more frequently here on out. I have faith that he will come through and find a groove at home.

Like you say, won't always go their way, but this is the way.

Didn’t think Fla played particularly badly - their goaltending was second best. But IMO the Flames are competitive with these teams even at their best.

If the Oilers had Markstrom, they would likely be fine. Leako Smithkinen drained out all of their mental energy finally.
Haha. Delicious.

I just noticed that

Calgary and Vegas are both .600...Calgary has barely played at home

Yet in the media the Flames are apparently below the playoff line and Vegas are a top team

Game reminded me of the pounding of the Rangers at home...too bad Sam's goal didn't get called back like Fox's

Bit worried about tonight. Calgary is a cheap-shot, goon team, and Barkov still doesn't look 100%. Not to mention the horrors if Huberdeau or Weegar goes down. Hope that Bennett and Lomberg don't get goaded into stupidity against their old team. I trust Gudas and Hornqvist to play a clean, hard game, but I'm still gonna be holding my breath and waiting for disaster.
The Panthers have some pretty dirty players in their own right. He even mentions 3 of them in this comment (Bennett, Lomberg, and Gudas). Even Huberdeau was acting like a juice monkey at one point.

Keep it going and pound the Oilers on Saturday.

I love that comment. That means the Flames are hard to play against and teams are wary of them.

That is way better from being soft and easy to play against like recent teams have been.

Yeah, I know, that's exactly what I said.

The Flames have lots of games in hand but they're multiple points behind many teams now. They need to starting winning again, so thank goodness they won this one.
