Edmonton and Calgary were actually tied (22nd/23rd) in PP opportunities coming into tonights game......
I like to look at PP AVG TIME PER Game
Oilers in 29th with 4:16 per game
Calgary in 23rd with 4:31 per game
Vancouver, as always, tops in the NHL in PP opportunities and 2nd in PP Time per game.
Calgary and Edmonton have good PP's. They will never be near the top

Pp time is a terrible stat to look at. If you score quickly that means you have less pp time.

Oilers have been playing like they're due for a losing streak for a couple weeks now. Just consistently outplayed. At least the Leafs have been full marks for their results for the most part. These guys get by on McDavid splitting a whole team on hail mary plays in the last minute, after chasing the game all night. Don't know how you can watch it and think you've got a team model for success on your hands.

Calgary gets PPs at the end of the game to even things out. Or on occasion in games they were absolutely dominating. Edmonton gets power plays against the flow of the game when they need a goal.

I personally do not like the Oilers system. It is too passive for my liking in the D zone. Just chasing guys to the outside instead of pinning them to the boards. It is working though.
It isn't like we have crazy goaltending in there either. We also do not shoot enough in the other hand. Too cute. Very annoying. So the Corsi stats do not always 100% match the eye test.
In a game like this, PITTS is just skating around the zone and not getting "crazy" chances. Oilers go the other way and elite talent can capitalize on just 1 chance. That's what elite players do.

Three shots on the power play. Three shots at even strength.

Ok, well I listed both. Sometimes refs call chinsy penalties to even things up and a teams PP lasts 10 seconds. Contrary to what that other guy said, both teams were tied in PP opportunities.

And 2 goals into the back of the oppositions net (The most important stat there is).

Common, that is not true unless you watch every minute of both teams games. I am always shocked if the Oilers draw 3 or more penalties in a game.

Liar. The Oilers draw +4 power plays every second game. Which is actually astonishing considering that they never have the puck.

I watch every minute of Flames games and most Oiler games (unless the Oilers are on at the same time, inc which case I do my best).
But go ahead, go into the game logs and prove me wrong.
And again, it’s not how many, it’s when and for what.

Actually playoff wins are the most important stat.
Oilers have 1 in last 2 trips to the playoffs.
I'll be here all night.

Well the Flames have had zero powerplays in 2 of the last 3 games, despite carrying play in all of them.
How do you think that would that fly in Butthurtville? There would be stories of conspiracy all over the papers and TV.

Barrie looked like he didn't even know where to go there. Ended up screening his own goalie a bit too. Solid shift.
