Don’t like it unless they know Tkachuk wants out. That’s an absurd ask and quite frankly too much to give up. Other teams would be lining up for Tkachuk.

Why would Treliving break that up?

Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler is up there as well.
I see your point but can you imagine Gaudreau-Eichel-Lindholm? You never know with chemistry etc but to me that line has the potential to be the best line in the league for years.
Chucky’s contract situation is brutal. That’s a huge part of it that you can’t just ignore.

in the summer St. Louis Blues radio talking heads proposed
Tkachuk for Tarasenko, Kyrou or Thomas, Perunovich and 1st
Would you rather package Tkachuk and a bunch of assets for Eichel, or trade him for lower ceiling, lower risk assets?

There has to be protection on the pick if we lose Tkachuk. It's a BAD forward group if we lose MT.

d) Calgary to put pressure on Tkachuk to sign an extension at well below his $9M qualifying offer so that he doesn't have to go to Buffalo.

I mentioned it in a proposal in the the other thread, but if Tkachuk is indeed the key piece going back, that leaves a pretty big hole on the RW, where he has been playing. I would sign Bobby Ryan as a temporary stop gap in the meantime. Ryan has 7 goals and 7 assists in 33 games last season. That is roughly a 17 goal, 34 point pace over 82 games, which isn't bad. He was on a PTO a month ago with Detroit, so I don't think he wants to quit yet. I imagine he would take the league minimum at this point.
I love Tkachuk, but I don't see him as a lifer on the Flames. Too many red flags about his intentions to move on and with Eichel, Mangiapane, Markstrom, and Gaudreau (hopefully) eating up $30 million in cap space, I can't see the Flames meeting Tkachuk's demands. Buffalo on the other hand, has a lot of cap space to dedicate to him and I think he would be worth it for them. The flight risk for him in Buffalo is probably significantly less than in Calgary IMO.

Now that this is out.
One way or another Tkachuk is done as a Flame.

I don't see it. Buffalo actually thinks Tkachuk will sign there long term? He most likely walks and they are left without a big piece.

Would feel a lot better if that was Monahan instead of Tkachuk…
I’d still probably do it though as long as the prospects involved aren’t Coronato, Zary or Peltier

if this is true und we do miss out on Eichel, you really can't blame the Flames for not trying though. That's a hell of a package if this Tkachuk + Valimaki + 1st + prospects. If Vegas beats this, then so be it.

Buffalo currently sits at 43/50 contract spots used so no contracts would have to come back to make this work

I don't want Eichel, and especially not for that package.
