It is just not that simple. I am laughing at the contract and the situation Holland put himself into by signing Ceci, Barrie and trading for Keith. Nurse is the only guy that comes close to resembling a top pairing Dman. Nurse has the Oilers over a barrel and if they trade him they have no chance.

Columbus traded Jones and has shifted to full rebuild. Not an option for the McDavid-Draisaitl Oilers now is it?

Flames are in a different spot so I agree with your take on Johnny but in reply to Fuzz the reason the Oilers did it now and not after next season is the likelihood Nurse leaves and the Oilers blueline is even worse

I thought the numbers being splashed around near the end of last season was that his offence was pretty much directly tied to Mavi, and that in general, while he needed to be on with Mavi for results, Mavi's line actually performed better without him. Not super familiar with the analytics so I can't remember what it was exactly.
