Ron Maclean heard Bieksa emphasize the word positive and put this remark together on the spot, it was improv and wasn’t crafted in advance

It made no sense but I doubt he goes ahead and fills in the blanks in the manner the bloodthirsty desire

Bieksa has the picture up as a joke and has for months right?

homophobic/aids is a stretch

just a bad joke that didn't work IMO...guy has been on live TV for 10 hours a night I think we can cut him some slack

Do you think he looks positive for something?

I mean that's pretty much it there.

I'm not saying it wasn't a dumb as AF response; I'm not even trying to suggest it wasn't a gay joke. But to think an ad hoc line over the course of 0.8 seconds - he had enough time to put positive, gay, and aids together and then crack that "joke"? Come on. Colin Mochrie couldn't come up with something that layered that quick.

Listen to any colour commentary or panel discussion and 90% of it is responding to the key word the other person said then talking over them.

Oh it was improv, and unplanned, but it was also about having pics of semi naked dudes and how that’s funny.

And it wasn’t funny. Like most improv

But I’m not taking that and filling in the blanks that make it offensive, that’s for others

Ron: I didn't mean to make a joke about aids
Bieksa: Are you sure
Ron: I'm not just sure I'm.....

Oh, come on. The subject was having pics of half naked guys. You know very well what he was getting at, and any alternative is a stretch which is beneath you.

Yeah I dont think it was an AIDs joke. He was insinuating that Bieksa has the hots for guys. Take that how you will.

Nope

Completing someone’s thought then judging them on my completion of their thought is, though

Isn't the point of having the pics to bust balls tho. Like it's a bit weird he has his colleague's picture with his tarp off.

The same guy we rag on for saying "not if or when, but how many", and "they're building something special up there", we're holding to the comedic timing of Carl Reiner, and the improv skills of Steve Carell.

That's a jump that even Neo couldn't make.

This MUST be a misunderstanding.

I don't know what he was trying to say. And im not even saying he isn't homophobic or whatever, I've never even met the guy.

But I just refuse to believe that a dude who has put in decades of sterling work in live television, and is among the most respected and highly paid professionals in the business, is going to just suddenly crack a "you're gay, so you must have AIDS" joke on live TV.

He must have been going for something else and flubbed it.

I just don't see the connection to pretending this is alluding to being HIV positive. Its a throw away awkward moment. I heard it more as alluding to testing positive for drug use if anything.

Sigh.

He meant you’d have to be under the influence to want a picture of Ryan Kesler with his shirt off.

You’re doing it wrong. We have been waiting patiently for anyone in the public eye, no less this smug guy, who thinks he is clever, to reveal his true colours, and finally after years of supporting the good deeds cup, local feel good stories, and other charitable causes, the unspecific statement which finally provides the smoking gun. It’s time to bury him

Meh. It was an inappropriate joke (especially if it was an aid's joke as I initially took it) but nothing to fire the guy over.

If anything, he should be more embarrassed by how bad of a joke it was and how poorly he delivered it.
