Congrats to Brad on making his best ever move as a GM.

You finally made your "put them over the top" play. Took a while, but better late than never.

At some point, the Flames top 6 are going to have to produce 5 on 5.

But it's nice to win without it

What I liked (mostly):
- great north-south play
- quick and effective breakouts
- really good puck pressure - if a Hab had the puck, someone was going at him - STRAIGHT at him
- Johnny (and others FWIW) NOT diddling around at the blue line. Get it, move it, chip it, skate and retrieve.

What I didn't like:
- the PP

It’s Hail Sutter now.

That definitely felt like Sutter hockey. Though, I’m sure easier to impose his will on such a tired team like the Habs tonight.

Still, a good start is a good start either way.

Now can we see it consistently? That’s the next step

That was 57 minutes of rock solid hockey from the Flames. I take 3 minutes and give that to MTL for their goal.

What impressed me was Sutter all over the guys after the MTL goal. Not allowing them to sulk and revert to timid shrews. That's the difference right there between a great coach and a just okay coach. That's it, that's all. That is all a coach needs to do. Pull their heads out their arses moment to moment.

Honestly, the next test now is to keep these players doing this for 29+ more games. They need to keep this going. Afterall, that's THE problem.

So does Sam Bennett get hardest working flame? Or is wills still mad that Benny bullies him on the team plane?

the PP at the end of the game was great...held onto the puck and killed the clock, actual smart hockey.

Officiating was straight up garbage. A few players are concerning but it's only game 1 under a real coach. Overall a massive improvement.

Sutter didn’t look all too happy at the end there

Pretty convincing win, I wasn't really worried at any point once they were up.

Nah, it has nothing to do with Peters or Ward.

Do some Hail Marys to counter if you'd like.
