I've been telling myself I should give plant based meat substitutes a try for a while, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I'm just always faced with the option of that or real beef and I pickup the real stuff.

Not to mention you could get designer steaks that aren't even possible to get from a cow.

I don’t see why not.

Depends on what my expectations are. Is the meat the star of the recipe, or is it going to get overloaded with spices and stuff that it gets masked a bit? There is probably little reason to slaughter a cow for the purposes of making Hamburger Helper.

The double rib-eye. It's two rib-eyes joined to make a butterfly-shaped steak. Or a tenderloin that is 40 oz. for carving at dinner parties.

Default Would You Eat Synthetic Beef?

All for it, here. There are large strides that need to be taken to close the gap on key pillars like cost and taste, but this does seem to be coming one way or another.

I’ve been cutting meat out of the diet the past while and do seek products like Impossible and Beyond Meat when I can. I’m of the view that, looking back on current times in a generation or two from now, that we’ll be appalled at the way we were sourcing our food from an ethical standpoint (referring mainly to factory farming).

The environmental and ethical aspects alone here make the whole lab-grown meat thing pretty compelling. It’s a funny quirk of the human mind that people will often find the meat sourced from a slaughterhouse (along with all of the attendant grossness and suffering) as all good, but synthetic meat grown from cells in a sterile environment by dudes in lab coats as “icky”.

Yes but only if I can hunt it and kill it myself.

Like Horizon Zero Dawn.

At mass production scale it isn't going to be grown by people in lab coats, it is going to look more like this:
