Eventually the good teams will have to play the other good teams though, they won’t all be getting fat all year.

Terrible bench management, the system is slow with too much dump and chase for a team that doesn’t have that skill set, and you can tell there is just no answer.

You could just tell that by the third game tonight the Jets had the Flames figured out. They knew exactly what the Flames were going to try offensively, and the Flames just didn’t have an answer.

And I’ve thought that going back to the offseason and didn’t want Ward extended then. He proved to me in the series against Dallas that he wasn’t the answer when he was dramatically out coached in that series and made some glaring mistakes.
This, a thousand times this.

Entire coaching staff needs to go and the sooner the better.

He really confirmed it tonight though in the third. Doesn’t shorten the bench. Saddles Gaudreau with Nordstrom. And kept mixing up the lines in just the stupidest ways.
If your going to dump and chase, you need to have an aggressive crash and bang forecheck. We are 23 of 31 teams in hits per game. Our system is not suited to the style of soft players over all we now have. If you want to crash and bang, pull out Simon and Nordstrom and bring in Robinson and Rinaldo to go chase it down, gain possession and then GTFO the ice.

Will McDavid celebrate Superbowl weekend by scoring a touchdown?

Will Backlund be a healthy scratch on Saturday?

I've tried to remain optimistic this year, but what I saw from this group today was really disappointing, even more than usual.

LOL, careful what you wish for. Those hapless Sens beat the Canadiens tonight.

Agreed. You can't dump and chase with small forwards.

Seriously is there a softer, easier team to play against than the Flames?

Flames should be able to take out the trash on Saturday night. If they fail to show up it’s time to fire the coach.

Can we trade our entire roster for Seattle’s expansion picks? We could even promise not to take a player from them.

I can guarantee you that the Flames would have not been any better with Bennett. He is a non factor.

I get it now. It's a campaign to get people to drink less aka dry out. Have they seen this team? Also do they know a cactus is not dry at all?

So thrilled to get 4 out of a possible 10. Awesome effort, guys. No one knows what to do, not even the coaches. No ability to adjust BECAUSE THERE IS NO FRICKING PLAN!!!!

I would love to bring Darryl back and let him put some spine and emotion in this team. If they still stink after the season, blow it up. I would hate to get rid of our better players before seeing what a real motivator could do.

Ward's supposed system is not for the players we have. Gads, I hate the slowness of their game.

Sure he might not have scored. But he might have carried the puck into the middle of the ice in the offensive zone. Which in this game would have been like sending a human to the moon.

As constituted, if this team plays to its full and complete potential we're out in the 2nd round of the playoffs. That's our ceiling.

I am on team blow it up.
Keep: Markstrom, Valimaki, Andersson, Lindholm
Try to keep: Mangiapane, Dube, Hanifin

I am kind of shocked that he put Nordstrom up with Monahan and Gaudreau.

I mean, I had been screaming that he try Jankowski - who at least has a pretty good set of hands and had been a very reliable depth scorer off the 3rd and 4th lines - a shot on that top line just to see if he can be a decent filler for the revolving carousel that RW spot was. Never once tried it, but he throws Nordstrom up there?

I am all for getting a body on that line to help dig pucks out and be the responsible back-checker, etc., but that RW slot must have some hands and an ability to shoot.

Team looks listless. Just spurts of energy, and then listless. Kind of takes the wind out of the sails for me as a fan a little bit. Hopefully they can just recover from whatever 'this' is, and start playing better and with a bit more urgency.

However, awesome save by Markstrom on that 2-0! (and way too many turnovers resulting in high-quality grade A chances).

I hope the Flames snap out of it for Saturday. I hate losing to the Oilers. Hopefully the Oilers are just what the Flames need - an emotional game to wake them up.

If Ryan is out, might as well start a 4th line of Rinaldo - Lucic - Ritchie.
