Then I guess his industry needs an overhaul. Why is that behavior acceptable? It shouldn't be.
That behaviour is acceptable to restaurant managers as long as food wastage is kept low, dishes hit the passway in single digit times, and only Karens are complaining about their meals. Its all about maximizing restaurant income while minimizing cost, complaints, and headaches for the management. The only people that matter in hospitality are the customers.

How does that make it acceptable? As long as the customers are happy, we're making money so treating staff like crap is acceptable? It isn't. In any situation. Ever.

I'm not saying it is acceptable but that is the attitude in hospitality. It isn't going to change unless money is somehow no longer the focus of business.
It was a reality show where the contestants were competing for money... except everybody but one person was a paid actor and that person doesn't find out the joke is on them until the final episode. There were two seasons. The first season was somewhat amusing, and the Schmo figured it out during the final ceremony where they were to reveal the "winner". I can't remember much about the 2nd season, but I think there was a male and a female schmo and one of them figured out what was going on quite early.
Yeah the 2nd season had a male and female schmo, and the female schmo figured it out a third of the way in the show when she saw how ridiculous everything was (the hot blonde actress confided to the female schmo that she starred in hot dog porn). So they revealed the truth to the female schmo, offered her the prize money of $100k to play along the rest of the series so the male schmo wouldnt find out. They also brought in another female schmo

There was a hot blonde and brunette on the show. The Brunette kept flirting around with Joe, though the actress later regretted it when the producers/writers met with her. Meanwhile Dr. Pat (Kristen Wiig) was the conservative type. Though she did sleep with sleazeball of the group
Then I guess his industry needs an overhaul. Why is that behavior acceptable? It shouldn't be. It certainly isn't for the vast majority of people to behave like that in their professions. Just because it's for TV shouldn't make it right or entertaining.
Sorry, is this guy trying to be the morality police over Gordon Ramsay's persona in Hells Kitchen? Haha, now I've seen everything

I am the farthest thing from a fan of reality TV. I cant believe they made this show let alone that people watched it. And the name...

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

The first season was true parody and actually fairly clever at how they handled Gould and poked at the absurdity of reality TV. The next two seasons were a bit too outrageous to work with the same charm.
The male schmo in season 2 actually started falling in love with the "bachelorette" and I kind of found the whole thing to be a bit cruel in the end. Season 3 was just a gong-show.
You want a real disturbing "how could they actually make this" moment? Check out The Swan.

I'm not sure what restrictions those would be, unless the production couldn't quarantine the cast for two weeks prior to filming. That's kind of a weak excuse.

It's an excuse to get the government to pick up the tab on the quarantine cost. Sounds pretty typical for any productioncompany who is using desperation among their potential clients to help drive their own costs down.
It definitely has to be the new three day quarantine in a government approved hotel facility and the cost.
The 14 day quarantine has been in place long enough that they wouldn't have gotten this far along if that were the issue. Or I suppose there is a chance they're too stupid to have looked that up.
There was also a parody version of American Idol that was actually pretty mean.
I enjoyed that show quite a bit. I suppose it was mean, but I remember laughing so hard at how bad they were and how confident they were in how they were great. The judging was funny too, one guy always kept saying that he didn't understand why the other judges really liked the contestant who eventually won (who was quite attractive) in his critiques to her. Then one time he faced the other way while she sang, and after she was done he was all "I get it now. I get it." I guess it really played on people wanting to be famous. I'm pretty sure they were never allowed to hear the other contestants sing, otherwise they might have gotten wise to the ruse.
I'd always hoped they would have a second season. Maybe after seeing Borat could do it maybe they can too!
