Tanev and Brodie have almost identical numbers last season

one played with Giordano and the other with a rookie

The Hamonic replacement.

Probly works out just like Hamonic, minus the loss of the 1st and 2 2nds.

Actually if you listen to a lot of Knucklehead fans, Hughes was dragged down by Tanev.

Which is probably what this kind of player is actually worth.

I think after the second year he's on the bottom pairing and we're talking about a buyout/cap dump situation.

That’s...not great. A career high of 70 GP, and hit 69 twice.
Last year’s 69 was 100% of the games.

Typical bad Treliving UFA session. One good signing and one bad signing. Not liking this one bit.

If reading CP today is any indication, other team’s fans are not to be trusted. At all.

Brodie and Tanev are very similar. They are both great skaters and put up limited offense but both are very good at defending.

This is a lateral move but one that had to be made. Brodie has to be replaced and you won’t find a more similar player.

It’s funny how some are lamenting the loss of Brodie in one thread and panning this signing in another one.

Tanev and Brodie are virtually interchangeable.

They offered Tanev exactly what they offered Brodie, Tanev took it.
Tanev has never had more than 20 points. Brodie has pretty much never been under 20 points (hasn't had fewer than 30 points in a full season since 2012).

Tanev has never played more than 70 games (although he was healthy this year). Brodie hasn't played in less than 70 games in a full season since 2011.

I am a little worried about this one. He is a decent defender from what I remember, but the injury history and his advanced stats have me a little worried.

This is a great alternative after losing Brodie.

Also, Tanev is way better than Hamonic.

Quinn Hughes is going to miss Tanev a lot. He was able to explode offensively because of Tanev. Pair Hanifin or Giordano next him and you get a 40 point Hanifin or a 55/60 point Gio.

This also means that Gio will be exposed at the ED.

So next season lineup looking probable (assuming a top 6 upgrade is still being sought):

Gaudreau-monahan-lindholm
Tkachuk-backlund-??
Mangiapane-bennett-dube
Lucic-gawdin-rinaldo/Robinson

Gio-Andersson
Hanifin-Tanev
Valimaki-Kylington

Markstrom
Rittich

Last year we robbed the Oilers (Talbot, Reider, Lucic), this year it's Canucks!

Defensively he's probably better than Hamonic.

On par with Brodie's production.

0.5 cheaper than what Brodie came in at.

You have to feel luke warm here. Don't like a NTC at all.

Can we at least expose him to expansion if this year is sub par?
