Man there are a lot of good RW free agents this year. Very few good LW.

Eh, it's pretty even since pretty much all of them except Hall, Smith and Granlund, play both wings.

Looks like they are projecting 4.4 Million x 3 years for Craig Smith

it was more cementing the fact that he would not be a good fit on the Flames
I am not sure this is entirely useless. We will see after the next week how far off the projections will be.

Crown seems to have this weird desire to see Smith on the Flames, its starting to creep me out.

What are you talking about? I've never suggested signing Smith. I just don't think he'll be paid 4+ million by any team.

How I would set it up with Demelo.

Those guys projections are usually pretty accurate.
But agree that this year is going to be a whole different can of worms, especially for mid-tier guys like Smith.
My guess is we see much lower than projected this year.

Jesus, 6.5 for granlund.
Not sure the projection is accounting for the current circumstances very well. GMs will not have bundles of cash throw such contracts at B players.

Dunno man, you've continued to project the salary of Craig Smith like you've got an inside track. Meanwhile proven statistics used for previous salaries etc have said otherwise along with the fact the guys coming off 4M+ salary.
Yet you remain strong on 3M.
What are you willing to bet he get's paid no less than 3.85M per year?

I have replied to people commenting about what he will make and stated that since he hasn't shown offensive improvement since signing his last contract and the financial uncertainty that I think he is in the group of players that gets squeezed. Saying I think something, isn't projecting like I have an inside track. It's literally making a guess.

I would love if this team stops spending mid-range money on mid-range players who will be in their mid-30's by the end of the contract.
Go big fish hunting, find bargains after free agent frenzy is over, and/or promote from within to see what you have.
No more Brouwer's and Neal's please.

$6.5M is a bit ridiculous for Granlund, no?

Holtby is coming off a couple subpar years, I wonder if he'd do a cheaper 2 year deal to show he still has it?

I like the idea of signing Gudas depending on term and cost.

I'll add Lundqvist to the list at position 33* when he's officially waived by New York.
The rankings won't be shifted at all. There will be a 33, a 33*, and a 34, with 33 remaining Gudas and 34 remaining Gustafsson. Lundqvist will be italicized.

What exactly are the rankings based upon? And why is it important to rank them? Not complaining, just curious, because I don't really understand the value arbitrary rankings bring.
Speaking of the Rankings, how is Fast #43 and Craig Smith #12? Or Schultz ahead of basically anyone.

I dunno, it's just the way I've always done it. It's not rocket science, it's just a way to arrange the players.
My mentality when I create the rankings is to put the players I imagine will be the most coveted towards the top, not necessarily the best players. I think Pietrangelo, Hall, and Markstrom will get the three biggest contracts on the market with the most term and salary.

Fast needs to move up like 30 spots then He will be quite highly coveted as arguably the best RHS winger available.
But I hope all the other teams underrate Fast too so we can sign him for cheap
