Would I love to keep my job? Yes.

Would I step back? Depends on the money.

If they added Hall and didn't make any other changes, it would most likely be Lucic that gets pushed out of the top 9

JG - SM - EL
TH - MB - MT
DD - SB - AM

If you're argument is that Hall bumping Mangiapane down to the 3rd line doesn't improve the team, well I disagree
Even though this would create a great deal more depth with Hall in the fold (and that's if he can actually stay healthy), this team is still going to struggle mightily against the other top teams with Monahan at center on the top line. You just can't have a guy getting those minutes who's list of can't do's far outweighs his list of can do's.

Pretty sure Gio won't be here next season.

There's a bunch of money saved.

If the Flames can keep Talbot's salary low and his contract short, I'd be happy to have the same goalies back from last season. Both guys can play to a #1 starter level, and the Flames should have a better read on them now and how to deploy them.

With that out of the way, they can start looking at restructuring the roster from the defence out. To my mind, they've already got enough talent on the roster at the back-end, but could swap some of the younger guys for some cheap but experienced veterans back there.

The real focus is then up front, and that all depends on who is available for trade. Signing Hall is good, but only for the right dollar figure and term, and I worry that's not going to work. But a young #1 center remains the big need, and it's impossible to know who might be available without knowing the GM scuttlebutt.

Pretty sure?

How on earth could you "pretty sure" bout something like that?

Interesting. Based on what?
I would view that as a total stunner. I know the fan base is down on him but I think he's still highly regarded in the org and considered a key piece. I think the probability that he is moved is very low. <5%. You also only save money if you don't take cap back - which is even more unlikely.

Yeah I will be as critical as anyone else of Gio and his playoff yips, but have you heard Treliving talk about the guy? As long as he is the GM, Gio isn't going anywhere.

I just don’t trust BSD. Seems so mean to say and I’ve legitimately cheered for him and loved a lot of what he did for us.

I feel like his emotions impacted his play. He wasn’t the same goalie imo after the Edmonton game on Feb 1. The Oiler game after the stick toss.

I like high emotion from the skaters but I just think goalies need to be more even keeled than that.

I wasn’t surprised in the least when he came in and let in 3 softies against Dallas.

Rasmus playing with a broken foot and Bennett with a torn triceps. Impressive play from both all things considered.

Holy.

The only slowdown was Bennett stopped taking faceoffs but was still throwing 6-8 hits a game and scoring goals.

What a guy.

This has nothing to do with his emotion or whatever you mentioned. It has everything to do with the guy didn't play a single minute of competitive hockey in 6 months and got thrown into the wolves.

I agree. I also don't worry as much about his emotions/mental side of the game. If anything I worry that the league got a book on him - which included high shots around his shoulders, that he seems to struggle with.

Hall isn't worth the money. Not sure why all the fans keep clamoring for this guy. Stop it.

Same thing could be said of Talbot before starting the play in.

I agree with you that it’s hard to come into the situation after all the time off. But some goalies have excelled.

What do I know, glad this isn’t a court of law.

I’d say Brodie was probably our best defenceman through the whole playoffs, but Ras probably would have been if not for this injury. I thought he looked off at times, and it’s not surprising to see the fact that he was suffering through an injury like that.

Not much else to say about Benny. What a guy. Awesome.
