I’m not even mad, higher draft pick plus incoming retool/rebuild if Brad has any sanity left.

I don't think Gudreau is a bum at all I think he's just too small and his linemates don't have either a, the grit, or b, the skill to compensate. I'm way more annoyed with Monahan and Lindholm.

This series has pretty much been decided by the quality of Dallas's forecheck. The Flames haven't been able to handle it well and the result has been both them giving up chances in their own end while being unable to get their transition game going at all.

Stars down, 5 straight penalties against the Flames.
Stars up, completely put the whistles away so the Stars can grab and hold away to protect the lead.
Not saying half of our team never even show up for the series, but these officiating is just infuriating. It's not even subtle anymore there is an obvious bias towards Dallas.

Some people just need to take a step back. At this point it has to be for theatre to post some of these rage posts.

Just my opinion, he was just short of being horrendous.

Yep. Because this is the familiar numbing warmth of Flames playoff failure.

Why? I see the green text but don't get what you're driving at.
Did you get called out for saying the same thing or am I missing something?
Edit: Ah, it's in response to the 2nd post.
I don't think he's a bum, but I think it's clear as day at this point that he doesn't have the will to compete in the playoffs and help the team. Especially at his price tag.

Well, some players played well, some players didn't. Dallas had more players playing well. They won.
On to the next game. Let's see how the Flames come out with their backs against the wall. They started off really poor in this game, but managed to make a game of it. Dallas was the better team - and has been for much of this series.

Gaudreau is on the books for two more years. Not the same situation that Savard was in.
Although I would say our recent head coaches have been just as incompetent as Greg Gilbert, so I don't disagree with the comparison outright.

I think the Flames can still win this series. Tkachuk needs to come back though.

That's fair but Rittich can steal games and really bring energy to the team. What's the point in keeping him around and giving him a multi-year contract if he isn't even going to play at all. What's the worst that can happen?
Unless Talbot is brought back (he has played well but I hope not) or Rittich is definitely the back up the next season. Otherwise, why not give the dude some playoff experience and see what he can do.

Our top core players are the softest in the league. Can't raise their game to the next level in the post season. Hopefully there's some change in the off season once we're booted out in the first round
again.

I was never a fan of Gaudreau and used to get lit up for ragging on him and his turnovers.
Was happy to be proven wrong when he was on the top of his game, but the last couple seasons have been rough to watch.

Not to mention his well publicized lack of commitment off-ice.
Our 3rd line has been our best line by far, and Gaudreau has been a blackhole in almost every single game. Plus he blew his defensive coverage in the last minute of Game 2 for the winner. Just the complete opposite of a playoff performer.
He's a $6.75M PP specialist who is looking for a raise. But don't worry, he's "just unlucky".

IMO the GWG tonight perfectly sums up Gaudreau. It’s the playoffs. You gotta do everything you can to win. The fact that he didn’t even attempt to block that shot speaks volumes. I don’t care how good you are, in the Stanley Cup playoffs you have to do more. This isn’t the NCAA anymore Johnny.
I never want to accuse an NHL player of being content with losing. You don’t make the NHL that way. But Johnny just hasn’t figured out how to win in the NHL, and at 27 I’m seriously doubting he ever will.
He’s an electric player. I love the guy. But I love the Flames more and I think moving on from him is what’s best for the Flames.
