They need to get moving and get players out of that country as soon as possible.

Dr. Fauci’s comments suggest things could get far worse in the States. Hold it in Canada or don’t hold the playoffs at all.

Things can’t stay shutdown for 2 years...it’s been almost 4 months already and the destruction of shutting down (necessary) is immeasurable at this stage.
Never in the history of medicine has there been so many great minds working to snuff out a virus, one vaccine AZD1222 has shown so much promise in the UK and S-Africa that Brazil just paid like $150m for the technology to reproduce it and they plan to give out 100 million doses ASAP, while I get it they're desperate they must see real promise.

There's a few more currently in stage 2 that so far are showing 100% to be effective as well.

I'll take odds that 1 year from now this will be a bad dream in the mirror

Well that's that then. If Bob McKenzie is reporting it, that's pretty much a done deal, just waiting on the official announcement.

Thoughts and prayers to the teams in the Edmonton hub. Thoughts and prayers. COVID-19 has really taken a toll when Edmonton looks like a great place to be.

The NHL should just scrap the 2020 season. Player, and staff health and safety should take precedence over playing a game.

Very true, I believe he lives in Roger's Place.

I was referencing another thread where I was told very matter of factly that Shannon gave his stamp to the news that Toronto & Vegas were definitely the confirmed hubs.

So really this was for my own amusement. I'm petty in many ways.

How many times does this need to be said? We get it already. At this point what does parroting this view point over and over again provide anything. Some of us are excited to have some hockey back if your just coming to rain on the parade you can just save it.

Have you not been paying attention? You can get a negative test but still have the virus be incubating. The quarantine period is there for a reason.

The border is still closed so you can only fly in for essential travel like for returning home or business deemed essential etc.

How many cases would Canada and The US have to get to be as infected as the NHL players.

26 out of 250 NHL players tested have shown as active covid cases.

If this sample of universal testing were applied to all all male Albertans between 20 and 34 ( 491,430) , we should expect that right now there are over 50,000 males in Alberta at or near their physical prime who have covid.

Chances are that they will not be symptomatic or alter their life in any significant way..... except not working and running out of money.

I hope the Flames end up in Toronto as Winnipeg is the one team who would likely see spending two months in Edmonton as improving their fate.

I don't believe so. In everything I have seen the plan is to have no participating teams playing in their own building. This means Toronto and the EC teams will play their games in Edmonton, and Edmonton and the WC teams will play in Toronto.

Unless something has changed? In any event, both locations are supremely good news for the Flames, because they win a lot in Toronto and in Edmonton.

That was the plan originally but it just doesn't make any sense as far as TV goes.

Say the Jets/Flames would be a primetime match up for SN, for a 7PM game in Calgary and 8 in Winnipeg, that game wouldn't start for the players until 9 PM. Not ideal for them I wouldn't think.

There really isnt any home team advantage as all teams will be in the bubble and with 0 fans in the stands, i just cant see where it would favor anyone other than familiarity with dressing rooms or something....which matters little.
