I only ever met him once, at the Flames regular season home opener after the 04/05 lockout. He was up in the nosebleeds shaking everyone's hand and thanking them for being there. I don't think my hand and arm ever fully recovered from that day. RIP.

Holy crap what?! That's horrible. He did the best job he could for the team all these years, and I think he was a fine CEO. This is so incredibly sad.
Sorry for your loss IamNotKenKing...

Wow this is terrible news. He was a man who dedicated a large part of his life to my favorite hockey team and from all accounts loved Calgary and the Flames. Thinking of his family during what is going to be a horribly tough time for them.

What an overwhelming day.
My condolences to IANKK and the rest of the King family.

So surprised to read this. That's a big loss to the CSEC and the Flames. Sorry for his family. He always came across as a likable and decent person.

My heartfelt condolences. I met Ken King with Flames Top Shelf experience once and he was an amazing person! He was the perfect person to run the Flames organization. It's a huge loss to your family, the Flames organization, the NHL, and the fans.

This is shocking, but makes a lot of sense.
If you tell Ken King due to the pandemic he can't shake hands with anyone, I'm sure his response is "#### this, I'm off to somewhere I can break some wrists".
He was always great to our group of fans in every interaction.

Condolences to his family. I am shocked.
In this new crazy world it’s unfortunate we likely won’t get a chance to honor him at the Dome with a pregame ceremony until next season.

I said the same thing to my dad today! He hasn’t been shaking hands for months as his immune system was very compromised, but now I’m sure he’s squeezing the ##### out of them, and doing some “nut taps”. Another old favourite of his...

Have a good pal who was friends (and in various capacities an employee) of KK's over many years. He was sick for a long time and fought it very bravely. Good guy, even if one disagreed. Met him a few times (big handshake!) and once got a letter back from him over a minor issue I wrote about to the Flames. Impressed that he would respond.
A loss for the Flames family, for sure.

I'm pretty sure he broke my hand with a handshake, i'd be %100 terrified of a nut tap from him.

I had some interaction with Ken King that were extremely positive, humorous and always enjoyed his style of communicating. Very saddened by the news of his passing.

I wish we could have somehow thanked him for fighting for an arena for the team these last few years despite being ill. That's going above and beyond in trying to help this team. Most would just step down, but he stuck with it, helped get the job done and we keep the Flames for many years to come thanks in part to his effort. The new arena needs to have a tribute of some kind towards him.
