I love how you completely sidestepped your getting called out for the "too provincial" comment. And I know why you did so - because that very much was an emotional argument and you can't hand wave it away.
As to the rest, has the NHL's Olympic presence over two decades increased the popularity of the sport around the world? Even assuming that claim is true, how has that benefited the NHL? Clearly the owners don't believe the benefit exceeds the cost. Why is it that you are able to see what businessmen paying teams of analysts cannot - even though they have the hard data and you have only your feelings?
