Pretty awesome to see Taika Waititi win his first Oscar.
Interesting Jojo beat out Joker and The Irishman for best adapted screen play. Is this the Academy saying it is the better film or just that the director got more potential out of the source material?
I've loved him since "What We Do In The Shadows"
good awards show, considering the acting awards have been a lock for several months.
amazed that parasite won.
not sure who that Korean lady was who got to speak, but she was great.
I liked Joaquin's speech. a little too vegan-y, but it seemed to come from his heart.
And he wasn't so full of himself that he didn't admit to his failings. Plus the bit about his brother to finish.
Apologies, if this is a silly question... but HOW could one watch these clips in Canada?

I'm glad Parasite did well and I watched the show to see the cast. But that was a tough watch. It's so forced.
Women women, where are the women etc...
Parasite has 2 women producers who paid for the film. Not mentioned once.
Weren't the two women producers who were the only speakers for best picture?
I'm wondering if Parasite winning will begin a more natural shift towards the diversity that people are talking about. The Oscars have always been an American Awards show, and they have a real problem on which projects are greenlit, and representation at the studio level.
They also need to stop looking down on comedy. Eddie Murphy and Adam Sandler were worthy of inclusion.

I thought Renee's speech was completely meandering and awful. Every speech she has given this award season, has been awkward and weird. Sometimes she gave it with an extreme southern accent, lots of "Y'alls"? Other times no accent at all. For pete's sake, you are winning everything - write a damn speech!

Did you know: 8 of the 9 best picture nominees were produced by at least 1 woman.
But all we hear about was that there were no women directors

Maybe because producing and directing are two different jobs and there were no women directors this year but there were women producers, hence no need to point that out?
