I don’t remember the date so it might not fit in the last decade, but does anyone remember the HNIC when Glen Healy and Kevin Weekes trashed the oilers and called them a cesspool?

this is a fantastic thread, i forgot so many of the Oilers failings over the years and the interview with Lowe and crew where he talks about winning is great.

I would have expected the price to be $19.80something.

Over 4? That's going all out. Let's see, 2 cheese options, 2 bacon options, 2x2 is indeed 4! They left no combination uncrafted when creating this bad boy.

I’m no writer, but why the heck would this quote get included in a puff piece about the $20 burger?

Quote:
Blackerby added, “It’s a classic bacon cheeseburger, loaded up with some fresh veggies — you can’t go wrong.”
You spend the entire article trying to build the burger as something incredibly special, using local, quality ingredients with careful planning and taste testing, validating its worth the $20, only to discredit it as being something basic and robustly simple?

I don’t know who’s dumber: The chef for saying something so stupid, the editor for allowing this quotation in the article or “Bobby Nick” for approving a simple burger as his flagship menu item and expecting people to pay $20 for it

The burger truly embodies Edmonton as well as the Oilers.

From Spitting Chicklets taking about Glenn Anderson showing up to party with guys thirty years younger than him in 2010:

The three then discussed Hall’s chirp of Glenn Anderson. The former Oilers great would come to Edmonton and party, Whitney said. At one party, Anderson loudly insisted that the only song allowed to be played was Lady Gaga’s Poker Face on repeat. When Hall scored his first game winner, Whitney said, the team was out at a bar drinking afterwards, and met up with Anderson, who had been drinking.

As Whitney recalled it, “He comes up and he’s saying, ‘Hi, congrats on your first game winner. You only got to get 65 more and you can tie me.’ He’s the all-time leader in game-winning goals, whatever the number was. And Hallsy goes, ‘Oh yeah, congratulations on scoring the fourth goal in a 8-3 win in 1985 57 times.”

Said Hall of the incident, “I’m pretty sure that Kevin Lowe called him and told him, ‘Hey, don’t go around the young guys any more.”

^ Bravo!

That last gif of the missed hit on Glencross - if you were to describe the Oil decade in one picture, it may get the nod

Shouldn't the burger have 6x6 options to make a true Oiler burger of the decade?

Fine. Get the facts right at least. The Oilers have not won more PO rounds than the Flames this decade. You were still trolling.
