I don't mind if the Avs trade for him. It's going to cost them a lot in assets and retaining him will mess up their salary cap structure going forward. I don't get the Hall love. Whether he's been an Oiler or a Devil when the Flames play those team I never have had the feeling that he was a player that worried me. He's a one time 30 goal scorer that has played over 75 games only three times in his career so the reality is that the team that signs him will get a $10 million player that averages 20 goals and 60 points. Pass.

I am sure if they put Broberg or Bouchard on the table along with their 1st that would interest the Devils. Holland won’t do it and if he does that is great because we will all know Katz is still calling all the shots.

It would be an Oiler thing to trade Broberg, Bouchard and a first for Hall. Then next year overpay in a trade from your forward depth for a much needed dman.

They would do it, but it has to happen now for it to make sense.

If I'm Treliving, I don't worry about going after Hall. I let the dumb teams battle to overpay for the one hit wonder that will break the budget. I'd instead circle around Jersey and see if you can get Palmieri to waive his modified NMC to come to Calgary and play opposite Gaudreau. That $4.65M salary is likely easier to swallow and Palmieri is more aligned with the type of team Calgary has. If that doesn't work, I circle back to Minnesota and look at Zucker again. Both are better fit for for the club IMO.

Mark Stone in an extension was worth trading legit prospects for. One year of Hall is not. Just watch the last game he played vs the Flames. That’s been his entire season.

Holland also wont do that because cap wise it can't happen. NJ would have to retain at least 50% and even then take back an Oilers contract. He is not going to Edmonton

I am not a fan of trading for Hall. Due to injuries he is a 50 point forward. But he is going to be paid as an elite player.
That said, as purely a rental he will make the team that trades for him better. The two teams at the top of the list are in our division. Picking him up keeps him out of their hands and potentially makes us better. So a case can be made.
I don't see a trade around prospects though. Calgary can't take on the cap. Something around Hanafin might work. Hanafin/Frolik or Hanafin/Bennett for example. Gives us Hall and a bit of breathing room to maybe add near the deadline. Gives NJ a 22 your old top 4 D locked in for 5 years at a good contract.

Hearing that the Florida Panthers have inquired on Taylor Hall. About 5-6 teams in the mix including Arizona and Colorado among others...

Yeah. I don't know why Montreal, Edmonton, or Vancouver have anything going on for trade rumours.
None of those teams have assets that they can trade.
MAYBE Edmonton does in terms of defensive prospects. But with their awful track record of development, they should keep all the youth that they have.

I really don't want Hall but if you are dealing for him you should have the intention of signing him so salary needs to go back. I would trade Backlund who looks good on the wing but is still not a top 6 guy in my mind and would give NJ a C that can fill in a top two role until Hughes is comfortable, then they can move Backlund to 3rd line C where he becomes perhaps the best 3rd line C in the NHL setting them down the middle. It sheds the Flames 5+ Million I'm cap space and with Frolik at the end of his deal there is your Hall signing money. Backlund, Kylington, and a 1st probably gets it done. I am showing how financially and asset wise the Flames could do it, I am in no way changing my mind about Hall, don't want him. And if BT trades Hanifin in a deal for Hall he should be run out of town.

It’s pretty easy to guess where he could be traded, of the contenders only Colorado, New York Islanders, and Winnipeg can afford the cap space.

I have read from a couple of insiders that Colorado is out. Of course Sakic could be bluffing. You are also assuming the Devils won't take salary back which is weird.

Because over his career after injuries that is what his average comes to?

Taylor Hall averages about 75 points per 82 games played in his career. Calling him injury prone is more accurate than dismissing him as a 50 point player.
