It's disappointing that we won't get to watch Dahlin, who by many accounts will be one of the top D in the league for the next decade.

I'm really interested to see if Ward changes up the lines or if certain players get more icetime than they've been getting. It's fascinating to me to see what other coaches on a staff might do if given the reins.

Think there’s a good chance assistant coach Martin Gelinas and assistant GM Craig Conroy are both on the bench tonight in Buffalo.

Gelinas has been the “eye in the sky” the last 3+ seasons. Conroy has never been on the bench during a game before. #Flames

I don't know about on the bench, but I can picture a previous era Rittich maskless with a cig hanging out the side of his mouth while making save after save like it's nothing. Ashing it between saves.

I would love to see Conroy as interim coach. Not because I think he'd be a good coach, I honestly don't know. But I'm sure he'd give an entertaining post game analysis!

Is there a more upbeat and positive person on the planet than Craig Conroy? Honestly?

ugh, now I'm really regretting not buying tickets to the game and driving down from Toronto... Wife can't make it, none of my friends here have any interest. I would have gone alone, but have been so annoyed by the team, decided to screw it.

Conroy on the bench will be great. Looking forward to the back pats and chuckling if the boys get rolling.

He really does seem cut out for coaching, everything aside.

Well if the players really did hate Peters, this is their chance to make a statement - show everyone that they are good at hockey, and can win in this league regularly.

If its the same uninspired play, then we better see big changes to the core before next season. These guys got what they wanted - rid of (another) coach they hated. Time to show everyone that you are capable of winning.

I am actually sad I wont be able to catch this game, most interested I've been since the season opener.

It actually says something positive about Gelinas that Peters would banish him from the bench. He was likely a quiet voice of dissent.

Is that the case, or was it just what he was assigned to do? Or maybe wanted to do? Someone has to do it. Gelinas has been up there for longer than Peters has been coach, no?
