The circumstances suck but I am excited to see what a new coach can do with group. Still early enough to turn it around

Just keep telling him he doesn't understand the definition until he believes it.

Theo can work PK too. He was good at it. Iggy can work with PP. Maybe get MacInnis.

Really good presser from Ward after practice given the situation. I think he'll be a good stopgap until they figure out their next move with coaching.
Bring in assistant coach Iginla to complete the coaching staff?

Darryl Sutter is what this team needs right now. He is phenomenal at distracting the media away from the team.
Also, for those that think he is just about 'crash and bang', and 'dump and chase', I would say you are wrong.
I remember a telecast where Darryl was on Sportsnet or TSN (I forget which honestly), and analyzed the Flames so perfectly in how they were playing under Gulutzan. He was all about quick transitions out of the zone rather than what the Flames were doing, and that the Backlund/Frolik line would be a premier shutdown third line.
He said some other stuff too which I can't remember now, but he is by no means a 'dinosaur'.
If not him - and he is by far my first choice - then I would go with Ward. He is looked upon as a future head coach. I know that Hall credited Ward quite a lot in NJ, especially with how he ran the PP there. I wouldn't read anything into how the PP is doing right now - the whole team is disjointed and has been since last season, and perhaps you really can't pin it on him.
My third choice would be Gelinas. Seems to be well-liked by every coach the Flames bring in. He has been the 'eye in the sky' for a while now and saw first-hand how the Flames looked all over the place. He is also seemingly highly respected by the players as well. Considering his lack of head-coaching experience, perhaps it would be on an interim basis.
I really expect that it is either going to be Ward (to at least finish off the season), or that it would be Darryl (in an effort to save the season, especially with rumored owner support when Peters was hired).
Either way, there needs to be a breath of fresh air in this organization.

Can we just not have retreads? There's a reason why Hartley was fired after the abysmal 15-16 season.

Gaslighting is where combustion as a side effect produces light.

I can't begin to understand why people would want Hartley back. By all accounts, the team hated him AND the team sucked. Hartley has a lot of detractors around the league as well.
If we're flying somene in, Darryl is the only one that makes sense to me.
Otherwise, it's Huska/Ward/Gelinas' show to run.

there's a treasure trove of Hartley stories just waiting to be unwrapped. he's been called a "bad human being" on the Fan, without any elaboration. I'm sure he's got some doozies that would rival the Billy Babcock playbook.

There's the player who said he was forced to fight, at the very least.

Don't think Iginla would have any interest in moving back at this time based on how much he and his kids are involved in hockey in Boston.
