To me it seems like they will only try entering the zone using one way. It doesn't matter if there is a clear lane ahead.. they will still try to jam it through sticks so Gaudreau can carry it in. Just not able to use their own brains and common sense.

He is there to screen the goalie and that has led to goals but that doesn't show up on the stats sheet

That kind of call on Stone is a joke.

I also don't understand how they manage to give up SO MANY odd man rushes every game. There was three times in the first period with 2-1s

Do you still have to come to terms about the Lucic trade or something? Because from where I am sitting the other ways the PP has looked hasnt exactly been working lately either.

Its miserable for everyone but pooping on changes trying to get something...anything going is a bit over dramatic.

Effort is expected.

Performance is rewarded.

Better period.

Defense is too aggressive. Way too aggressive. They're losing almost all the battles they should be winning when they pinch. Chalk it up to the rest of the league reading and understanding the system or chalk it up to that's just puck luck. Either way. They need to sit back more.

What a shocker.

The same guys who are battling their demons 5v5 are also struggling on the PP.

Weak attempts to hold the blue line and bad decisions to pinch by the defencemen.

The Stone penalty was weak, Rittitch doing his job as always, better effort that period, team needs a goal and I think it's coming.

So the Flames have now not scored in seven consecutive first periods, which is kind of remarkable, honestly.

It’s almost certainly mental rather than physical with this team right now.

The good news is that we know that they are absolutely capable of doing the little things correctly but they are gripping their sticks so hard right now that they seem to be simply unable to do them. They need to stop overthinking and go back to their natural instincts. Adding pressure to this team probably isn’t helpful at this point. They have to find ways to have a little bit of fun again.

"Zac Rinaldo what do you think of the players only meeting after last game?"

"I've played 4 periods this year, so I guess get pucks deep?"
