Unless another team is going to pay him more than what the Leafs are going to pay him, I don’t see why he would take another coaching job quickly. He would just be going right to another team that is panicking

I'd say most of his accolades come from his Team Canada accomplishments
Nah, his rep was made before he first was HC of Team Canada, after a deep PO runs and a Cup winner. But those were all stacked teams (as were his Team Canadas).
This is the first time he's had to work with a real rebuild. It hasn't gone well.
Say what you will about Babcock, but you still have to be a good coach even to get a team of Hall-of-Famers like the Wings to win.
Unfortunately for him, I don't think he ever learned to adapt from not having Nick Lidstrom. His coaching decisions have gone from studied to bizarre.
As for Keefe, highly thought of sure, but someone on the radio (don't remember who, maybe Burke?) pointed out the Marlies have a lot of AHL vets because they pay them one-way deals.
Just looking at their roster and they've got Aberg, Darren Archibald, Agostino, Matt Read, Nick Baptiste, Ben Harpur, Kevin Gravel, Garrett Wilson - that's a lot of tweeners.
What is the lore behind why Commodore hates Babcock?
Commodore hates Babcock because he didn't get playing time that we was promised--truthfully, Commodore wasn't that good of a player anyways so he shouldn't feel entitled to anything
Three former NHL'ers who played for Babcock, told me that Babcock is a very difficult and unpleasant coach to play for and that that opinion is shared by most players except for superstars. Hearsay; neither here nor there. You don't have to be liked by all to be a good coach. But you have to be liked by more than a few players on your team in order to get buy in, I believe. Especially in today's NHL, where kids make multi-millions with NMC/NTC and have little to no respect for a coach. Most players adore Trotz from what I hear, an it shows in his results. Even Darryl Sutter, who is a hard a$$, is liked and respected by players in the first 3-4 years of being a coach (then it wears out, I suppose, but that's a fate of coaches, in general).
