Could see this coming a mile away. They are in deep trouble.

As mentioned previously, huge difference between early regular season gear, post all star break gear and playoff gear.

Maybe the so called negative people had a point...

I'm not blaming the refs for the Flames loss, that's on the Flames.

I'm blaming the refs for a real reduction in my give a crap about NHL hockey attitude.

But the Flames have to show some outright pride in the next game, they need to show us what they're made of.

I tend to think that the lack of playoff experience is catching up to them a bit.

But I am going to say that beyond Peter's, the leadership core on this team has to take a good long hard look in the mirror tonight. The leaders are responsible for establishing the heart of the team, and I didn't see a whole lot of heart tonight.

Yeah, the refs were awful but let’s be honest, the Flames probably still lose this game 6-2 with competent refs.

IMO here's what needs to happen.

1) Shake up the D pairings. Right now the only D playing a decenf gap are Brodie, Hamonic, and Andersson so I would start with

Giordano-Andersson
Brodie-Hamonic
Hanifin-Kylington/Valimaki (i trust Kylington's speed more though)

2) Completely revamp the forward group. No line stays intact. Something like

Gaudreau-Backlund-Bennett
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Monahan-Ryan-Czarnik
Frolik-Dube-Neal/Jankowski

3) show everyone all the tape of every single breakdown. The fixes are not about who is in the ice they are about trusting your teammates and your goaltender. They're about tying up sticks and playing aggressively.

Refs made one bad call on the hooking, which combined with the bench minor was pretty weak.

Other then that the Flames took a ton of lazy penalties

If this series was in early January we would be look for the sweep in Game #4.

The only issue is that will never be possible. So here we are.

We cannot expect our first line to go so streaky and expect success. The supporting cast got us first as much as the first line. That is awesome at a general view, but dig down and there are two halves of the season with two stories.

Must win game #4. Hopefully Johnny and Monny can put together a clinic not seen since the Canucks series.

Here is hoping, or we are sunk.

I thought they made several horrible calls but the Flames had already folded like a cheap tent by then.

Monahan and Gaudreau had no effort defensively. They looked liked they didn't care. Losing is one thing, but the Flames looked like a inferior team. Lazy passes constantly intercepted, and leaving guys wide open everywhere.

Ya no ####. Benny was the only one out there going hard and smashing people. It's the playoffs for sake.

Flames have nothing to respond with. Where’s the compete? Also, Johnny definitely had some good peeks but seeing him just coasting in two goals against was not a good look. And then to top it off, the hockey gods were not on our side, with two goals stopped by Colorado players (the Cole face save was just the icing on the cake). I love this team but my outlook has definitely dimmed a bit after the last two games. Go Flames Go!

They need to dig deep and pull themselves out of this funk. All the top players are underperforming and it was frustrating to watch this team fail to execute and be dominated like that for the full 60 minutes.

To be honest that is how I expected the Flames to play game 1 or 2. Really upset to see how these first 3 games have gone. I have not liked the intensity of the team in any of the games to be honest. They played fine in game 1 but neither team looked overly intense. The Avs elevated their game in game 2 and really stepped it up tonight.

Well our collective biggest fear is manifesting. Our top players are not capable of playing well in the playoffs.

Johnny and Monahan are bad every shift.

On the flip side, Bennett has been our best even strength forward consistently in the playoffs his whole career. Tkachuk is hot and cold, but almost every other single player is embarrassingly soft and unable of performing in the playoffs.

Our 4th line has easily been our best line and that's incredibly depressing.
