While I get while the ref gave the match suspension, I hope Ferland doesn't get a suspension.

Yes, it was a dumb move and deserved a penalty, and I don't really disagree with the match penalty (I wouldn't have disagreed with just two minutes either), but Ferland did try to hit something else than the head.

(It was just pretty much unavoidable because of the way he went into the situation. Which is what makes it dumb. That could have easily gone a lot worse without any malice.)

LOL, we're in almost exactly the situation as last game.

Caps with a 3-2 lead, Canes go on the PP. Only difference is two minutes more on the clock.

Makes you wonder why Dougie wasn’t used more on the PP in Calgary.

Does it make you wonder or does it prove Gulutzan was a moron?

Both? Given Cameron was the brainchild of that debacle.

That was a BIG save by Mrazek.

I still think a big part of the problem with the Flames powerplay has always been the players. We still see some of the same tentativeness, the same low percentage plays from time to time even with a different braintrust.

On an unrelated note, that electrical safety advertisement is absolutely terrifying.

I agree, worse for me as my 18 year old teen is starting college to be an electrician.

Why does Doug MacLean continue to say that Ferland hit Dowd in the shoulder? (He at first said the "chest"). I get why people don't think that was a match penalty, but can we at least stop with the nonsense of pretending that Dowd's head was somehow untouched?

Tough call on Ferland, hard for refs to make that decision without the replay and slo-mo. They should just make all 5 minute penalties reviewed by Toronto, they can disect the play during the penalty so play isn't stopped, and if they decide a game misconduct is warranted the player can go from the penalty box to dressing room.

Pierre MaGuire’s awful commentary is enough for me to consider switching to the Nashville game.
