My takeaway from this game is that everyone - from the players to Peters - was on autopilot. I have a feeling the rest of the regular season is gonna be a bit boring other than the head to head with San Jose.

It would be nice to get something from Peters as to what he thinks has gone wrong for our first line and what can be done to get their magic back. They were so amazing earlier in the year. It’s beyond belief how bad they look right now.

The team got pushed around again. Lack of size is going to be a problem in the playoffs

Default O offence, where art thou? Flames lose 3-0 to Kings

I’m not going to blame the loss on Smith, because you can’t win a game when you score 0 goals - and Smith made a number of high quality stops on odd-man rushes. The one point that can’t be overlooked though is those odd-man rushes wouldn’t have happened if the Flames weren’t having to press to tie the game. Smith letting in that craptastic first goal is a prime example why the Flames needed to upgrade the goalie position in my eyes. That one goal against changed the entire outlook of the game against a team that does nothing but trap.

Tough loss. The team needs to execute way, way better. The power play needs a lot of work. The fact that we still aren’t using players in natural shooting positions is mind-bottling to me.

Smith was probably our best player tonight, but as a goalie you simply can’t let that first one in. You force your team to chase all night...and this is just what happens sometimes. He did do an excellent job of raising his game after the error though.

I think the “wait and see” for the top line to come out of the funk is past. Not saying they won’t have 1 or 2 games where they find their game again but it’s been a large sample size now where teams are tightening up and that line can’t keeo the puck in the ozone long enough to create chances.

Monahan and gaudreau are not great forecheckers and their easy entrances into the zone that they were getting earlier in the year is gone. You need someone who can help forecheck on that line since gaudreau isn’t good at it. I would like to see Ryan there next game and also maybe tkachuk instead of lindholm.

No easy answers here. Hoping the coaches are on the same page as to what needs to be done.

One of the most boring games I have ever been too. So disappointing. This is a team we should beat up on.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You shoot the puck, you pass the puck, you stop the puck. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it snows." Think about that for a while.

Horrible game.

8 of 40 shots from inside the hash marks (per Icy Data). Not gonna win a lot of games like that.

15 shots from +/- 40 feet out. Once again, not gonna win a lot of games like that - especially when most were pretty visible.

Johnny needs to stop &**^^%$ing around with the puck and actually pay attention.

#1 line needs to stop the blind passes.

Monahan...dunno. Just looks stunned out there right now.

And Neal just looked .... s-l-o-w.

Coaches are likely happy though...guys might listen after losing a game after their little winning streak. Hope so.

Well, that was a rough one to watch. Seems like the Flames just didn't have "it" tonight. No matter what they tried, it wasn't working. Puck jumping all over their sticks, too. Oh, well. Get 'em next time!

not this again...teams lose games

Kings were outshot 2:1 by a Flames team going through the motions

Not sure if I’d break up the top line yet — as long as they can stay even 5-on-5 or better. Need to kick start the powerplay though, especially PP1. Put Lindholm in Monahan’s spot, and try Neal on the right side?

As a goaltender those are exactly the kind of games you love to be apart of, lots of work but easy shots from the perimeter, wide open lanes with no traffic or screens. 40+ shots but nothing of any danger or high risk. Just get into a groove and build the confidence with every long distance shot.

Zero urgency tonight and the 1st line is sleep walking to the post season. The compete level doesn’t just switch on because it’s playoffs, they’d better start putting their work boots on now or it’s gonna be tough sledding come April. Good teams find a way to bury the trash like the Kings this time of year. You don’t see TB running into these nights off; they found the gear they needed to come back on Boston tonight, with not much to play for other showing their in a class of their own.

Flames aren't Tampa (although they did lose 3-0 to the Wild)

Every other team in the league losses games

Sharks have lost 6 in a row, Flames have lost one

Weird game. Dome had the least amount of energy I’ve felt all season.

Hopefully Bennett is healing up. He’s the kind of guy who can spark the team with a hit, net drive, fight etc. Good on Fantenberg for trying.

CGY owned the puck but LAK defended well. As Ward has said, make the offensive zone big and get opponent moving. PP goal can change complexion of the game - or at least give momentum.

CGY needs to be prepared on how to advance the play/generate when teams back check hard and just take time away. Peters mentioned this with comments about executing in order to play fast. When players in rhythm, their timing is good, when timing is good execution is good. A few players just need to make plays in the rhythm of the game - sense when to move before it closes down. Just try and stay in rhythm.
