lol
You know what else is upsetting? In rinks where the bench isn't big enough and the backup goalie has to sit somewhere else - it isn't fair. We should start a gofundme to raise awareness for abandoned backup goalies.

Not a very good comparison. A similar situation would be if you were a 22 y/o just fresh out of college and have been working at your job for 6 months. Then they bring in a more senior guy from another company. If I'm the boss, I have no problem appointing him your desk and you shouldn't really be in a position to complain about it. Not that you will. Just part of the life of being green.

I am so upset that Kylington has to sit in a chair! The humanity!

You guys are right. My yahoo fantasy app had Schneider as confirmed earlier today, then switched to Schneider tomorrow in Edmonton.

No I don't play hockey for a living but doesn't mean I don't understand getting bumped down in the pecking order.
I'm not black, but by your logic I shouldn't understand racism.

This season, before the trade deadline, the team was 23-6-5 with Kylington in the lineup, with him having some huge games for us and him having serious offensive impact while being solid defensively. He looked on his way to earning a bigger role and the only argument against him was that Hanifin was doing fine up the lineup.
Since the deadline he's suddenly been relegated to pressbox filler, having logged one whole game and the team is below .500 since the deadline. If I were Kylington I'd be pretty annoyed watching the team keep scratching me. The sitting in a chair thing might be pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, but the sitting in the press box part would not be.

Kylington isn’t getting bumped down long term. Treliving specifically got a depth defenseman who didn’t have term so he wouldn’t be blocking Kylington and Valimaki on the left side next year
Some fans worry way too much about how players will feel or react to normal hockey situations. I don’t really understand the hyper sensitivity to their treatment.

First of all, sitting in a chair has absolutely nothing to do with his ice-time, never mind the Flames' record over the past month. But to the point that you sort of make, the Flames' record is not a function of who slots in as the #6. The FLames will be communicating with Kylington (and the others) as to what their intentions are, and why they are making the lineup decisions that they are making. If Kylington has a problem with that, he has absolutely NO chance of surviving long enough to become a full time NHLer.
But back to the stimulating conversation at hand... your post has nothing to do with him sitting in a chair.

I am sometimes awestruck by your ability to spin a narrative...
Kylington has been a nice surprise this season. He has played a bunch of good games, and shown a tonne of growth since his first pro year in Stockton. However, he has especially more recently been prone to more mental mistakes, and hasty decisions, which are invariably suffered by pretty much all NHL rookie defensemen. Moreover, he has been a little banged up, and missed a couple of games for maintenance.
He is a 21-year-old rookie with a blazingly bright future, and by his recent NHL feature appears like a really well grounded, smart kid. I am quite sure based on everything I have seen on the ice and in the media that Oliver Kylington has a better grasp on the situation than you do, and while recognizing his place on the team and his current role is not so prone to emotional damage by his time in the press box.

Does anyone else get the sense that Monahan is hung up on his goal total? He needs one more to equal his career high, and two to set a new one. I wonder if he might be in his own head a bit because of this.
Here's hoping for a milestone for Monahan after tonight.

It took him a while to hit 100, too. You could be right.

Interesting. Looking back on it, here is how that season transpired.
Monahan scored his 100th NHL goal on 23 February, 2017. It was his 20th goal in a 27-goal campaign. It was also his first goal in 7 games after scoring four in the previous three, and nine in ten.
