Maybe Chia thinks he's on the way out and is burning everything down before he gets turfed?

Chia is Sam Raimi Spider-Man 3 bad. As in people are legitimately going to start believing he’s intentionally making the worst moves possible, trying to get fired. Only ownership is so incompetent that he’s not getting fired.

Locked himself in his office on the phone until security can break the door down and throw him out

Glass houses, man. These trades are perplexing, but those 2 Sutter deals are in a whole other realm of dumbfounding. That Phaneuf trade torpedoed the Flames bad.

Chia wishes he was that level of "so bad it's good."
He's more like Suicide Squad bad. His team is a confused mess that doesn't know what it wants to be, cobbled together from a bunch of cringy slop.

If McDavid requests a trade, I hope it's before Chiarelli gets fired.
I can see the Bob McKenzie tweet now. "Trade is one-for-one. Colton Parayko for Connor McDavid"

And Caggiula is the best player of the bunch

This is comparable to Kotilik.
The Phaneuf deal is interesting in that I’m not sure we lost that trade. Phaneuf wasn’t great after and consistently overpaid. The big problem with it was Sutter didn’t maximize his value.

That's the only scale that matters, IMO. Huge loss.

It was Calgary.
Now Chia is madly speed-dialing Treliving to close a Manning for Lindholm trade, but for some reason Brad is no longer picking up the phone
