Ok. But until his last year (the transition year to Yeo), he still had them winning around 50 games per year.

Made Brian Elliott look pretty good.

Don't count out AZ to pass all of those teams.

I think Hitch is one of the best coaches the game has ever seen.

Not sure what he can do with that roster though.

He may surprise.

haaha...

shocked that Hitchcock was the guy they tabbed... Quenville was probably too smart to take on that job...

no way will Hitch get those guys playing a defensive style

Perfect I was worried Quinneville was going to get lured there after this season.

Change is never good when it comes to the Oilers, so I'm a little worried. Saving grace is that Hitchcock may be past his prime but he has a pretty strong past record that can't be denied.

Safe to say that Sutter, Quenneville, and Vigneault all hung up on Chia? I can't imagine that Hitch was the first choice given his recent track record.

Oiler fans are roasting this move on Twitter.

My favorite one so far:

Maybe before he decided he's had enough of coaching 2 or 3 times and fizzled out along the way. I would imagine his age, demands etc are going to cause some serious issues beyond the usual ineptitude in the Oilers locker room.

Sit back and get your popcorn ready, I feel like this is going to be quite the sideshow.

I expect a small bump tonight. They get a win against the Sharks, at which time the Oiler media goes full Oiler media and suggests Hitch has the goods. Then they go on to lose the next 8-10.

Chia wouldn't have permission to sign guys like that who would require longer deals. Considering when they miss the playoffs this year he will be fired.
