I can't help but think that Rittich is giving them the confidence to attack harder. When you don't need to worry about giving up a few chances, the players become free to take more risks at the other end of the ice.
Hopefully Rittich keeps it up, or Smith gets it together. Because this is an offensive team that needs faith in their goalie so that they can do what they are good at.
So, is this good enough to get Rittich the next start as well? We definitely don't want to burn him out as he is not used to a heavy work load, but he certainly is earning it.
OT, but who is our European scout that would have identified him a couple of years ago when we signed him?

Derek MacKinnon, I believe. He has recently been promoted from Scout to Director of Player Personnel.

Vegas had so little pushback tonight. Was kind of surprised there wasn't more scrums and any real animosity building tonight.
Games like these give the Flames confidence, and any 'easy game' on a schedule is great to have in a long and tough NHL season.
Surprisingly, Rittich's SV% in this one dropped a bit. Oh well, he will just have to post a couple more shutouts to bring his numbers back up
As for if he is ready to become the #1 or not, time will tell. I like that he hasn't been - let him ease into that role if it happens. Hopefully Smith finds his game this season too, as it would make Calgary a tough team to get a win against.

Such a dominant win, how ya like us now knights? So refreshing to relax after the first period for once.
With all those goals you'd wish Neal got in on one. Wondering if there would have been any use getting him on the first or second line in the 2nd once the game was out of reach? Given how well the team is doing, and the goalie situation is temporarily stabilized, not a big deal I guess. Not sure how the guy is going to succeed on a line with Frolik and Ryan. Given the chemistry going on the top two lines hard to mess with it. Chicken or the egg debate- do you give a guy top line minutes if he isn't producing to spark him, or do you keep him farther down the lineup until he produces.
Fun game to watch. Top line showed amazing chemistry and hockey sense. I suppose Gaudreau is a top hockey player again until he doesn't score any points for a few games?
Feels like Bennett is about to break out with a bunch of goals. He's been playing really good hockey for quite a stretch now. Neal also, with a couple of really good games.
Rittich was solid when he needed to be and that's what you want from your number 1.

I believe GirlySports is Korean and thus, likely also a fan and supporter of that country's number one export. I certainly don't mind the GIFs!

He looked ok on the one shift he got after a PK when he went in for Lindholm (who was on the PK).
