If you really want to get down to it, everything is useless. I’d say something that challenges your brain and allows a more intimate interaction with other people’s is pretty low on the list of pointless things.

I thought that I would bump this for a bit of a tangent. I posted somewhere on CP a number of years ago that I was trying to teach myself Mandarin. I'm nowhere near fluent, but I feel like I have a pretty good base. Im just wondering if there’s anyone here who might be willing to sit down with me and talk? I feel like I know enough through podcasts and audiobooks to have a reasonable interaction, but no real feedback I don’t know whether my pronunciation is reasonable or whether I just think I’m further along in the process than I actually am!

I am heading to China again in a few weeks, so kind of hoping to arrange something prior to that.

We had our kids enrolled for a couple of years, they have adult conversation classes, registration is probably over but check out the main office on a Saturday before 4pm. The principal (of the Chinese school) there was very friendly and would probably be keen to help.
