It is hard to ignore Dube, he has forced them to give him a good chance of playing this season in the NHL. I think Hathaway and Lazar are the two who should be worried, they had last season for a bunch of games to show what they can do and they are being past by Dube and possibly Mangiapane. Maybe they get sent down, I think the risk of losing them is minimal at this point. It could send them a message and light a fire under their butts, maybe it doesn't. Either way, it is a good problem to have.

Can't ask for more than that from a hockey team.
I'm curious if they have the leg up, or if we see Mangiapane and Andersson get an equal chance on Saturday (Andersson playing the off wing).
Nervous times for Lazar, Hathaway and Kulak.

I think its the opposite. Unless Dube and Valimaki kill it out there, they're being left behind in California. Why bring people on the trip unless they're going to dress. And if you're dressing your final roster on the last game it means that the second last game is going to be the guys who don't have the inside track.

GullFoss,
maybe it is their final audition and they are being told to leave it all out there tonight. Make it or break it tonight. I bet we see some more muscle on Saturday night either way since we are in Edmonton. I expect Prout to play over Valimaki anyway on Saturday night. I think Dube has a better chance of sticking around than Valimaki.

So Mangiapane, Andersson and Rittich have made the team then? With 29 players left in camp there was always going to be 9 guys watching tonight.

Shh, don't tell Edmonton that.
All good and true though. Dube is a player I'd be willing to be patient with. More upside and room for growth than the alternatives. It's a small price to pay if you can have a guy that contributes after getting up to speed. Would not bet anything significant on Hathaway or Lazar elevating over the course of the year as regular starters in any kind of significant way. They've shown no signs of having another gear.

Hathaways played in more than the China games. IIRC he played against WPG and EDM.

It's probably telling if his games are that forgettable.

Ah, yes. He played in the Winnipeg game on Monday, but was still in China when the Flames had their epic battle against the Stanley Cup heir-apparent Edmonton Oilers.

All I wanted was someone not named Hathaway on Bennett and Jankowskis line. I for one am very excited with this make up.
I think this is Valimakis big test tonight. Do well here and you may just send a LD packing.
Shocked a bit Smith is playing as I would figure they would want one of Gillies and Rittich to show up against an NHL roster. Maybe they split time with Smith tonight and next game.
Damn them lines are sexy.

I did just have to chime in on this and say I DON'T CARE.
#### you, Sharks. #### you, Erik Karlsson. #### you all and your team-stacking attempt to secure a championship for happy Joe, the Caveman and their wine-tasting band of hipster hockey players.
I hope the Sharks are terrible this year and forever. That is all.

I could also see the case where Dube and Valimaki are in tonight and then Mangiapane and Andersson get in against the Oilers as a final audition for each player, and then they decide from there.

Then it was both WPG games? Maybe against Vancouver too.

No. Check the gamesheets. The Flames were still in the air when the prospects dominated the Canucks in Vancouver, and it was a similar-looking lineup in Winnipeg. Hathaway played at least one of the China games (maybe both), but only the one home game v. the Jets on the weekend. That is all.

Still not thrilled they qualified him. But since they did, hopefully a less regular spot in the lineup lights a fire under him again
