That fourth line is pretty damn skilled and can be given very cushy offensive minutes, as the middle six is perfectly capable of taking all the tough assignments and zone starts.

I like these lines just as much as the ones I proposed honestly. I think that’s the best part about the upcoming season... right now, no line looks like a glaring weakness like last season where the bottom 2 lines struggled so much.

In case you haven't noticed Bennett's goal totals have been regressing the past two seasons.
2015-16 77 18 18 36
2016-17 81 13 13 26
2017-18 82 11 15 26

And so has his line mates. Let’s see you put up points with Brouwer/Hathaway/Lazar flanking you.

that's how i have it.
Backlund + Lindholm as PK1, shift after a PK you put out Neal with Gaudreau and Monahan, then follow that shift with line 4 if they're getting an offensive zone start or line 3 if they are starting in the D zone.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Neal
Bennett-Ryan-Frolik
Mangiapane-Jankowski-Czarnick
Lazar-Hathaway
This what I've been thinking we will start with, but after reading about Tkachuk possibly getting a look on the top line I can't help but think this would be a unique way to structure the forwards:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Bennett - Lindholm - Neal
Frolik - Backlund - Ryan
Mangiapane - Jankowski - Czarnik
This option gives Bennett some serious skill to play with finally. Regardless of how Peter's assembles this group you have to love the versatility. Lefties that can player center or wing:
Monahan
Backlund
Jankowski
Bennett
Righties that can play center or wing:
Lindholm
Ryan
Czarnik
No reason why we can't have two capable face off guys on the ice at all times. Exciting depth for sure.

I think we're one more elite forward away, but he's absolutely not wrong.
We've upgraded our first line which through trickle down has upgraded our second line. Our third line looks like our old second line and our new fourth line looks like our third line of last year. And this is without inclusion of strides that Monahan, Tkachuk, Bennett, Janko, Lindholm, Hanifin and our other young D can and should take just due to the natural progression of young players.
If goaltending holds up this is a top 3 in the west roster.

There is enough talent, leadership and players with differentiated skill sets to have success. They have a coach who might not be best but isn’t the worst. It all comes down to the goalies. Huge gamble to roll with this set of keepers. But I like Mike Smith. I think this has a good chance of working.

There are a lot of interchangeable parts. I expect Monahan and Gaudreau to stay together, but beyond that, I expect that there will be a fair bit of line juggling. Neal and Lindholm, and to a lesser degree Frolik, will all be trying to compete for ice-time on the top line at different points in the season.
I also expect Ryan and Jankowski to compete for time on Tkachuk's line.
Bennett and Czarnik should also be pressing to move up.
So much versatility on paper.
Actually, that makes me wonder. Is Peter's known to be a line juggler? I think we have the roster that it can be a good tool to have. But not all coaches like doing it.

Agreed. Hope the franchise figures out how to create an enablement program for him, setting him up for success.
Who's the last forward (top6 impact), who wasn't a rare 'figure it out day1' (Monahan, Gaudreau, Tkachuk) that the flames have drafted and developed in their own program. In the last decade, there's Backlund, and how long until he actually got there!

With all of the depth, I hope we stop seeing Lazar in depth charts.
