Honestly, this should have happened at our very first home game. He is a first-ballot HoFer and the greatest Calgary Flame ever. To me, it's absolutely unacceptable.

It's up to the player to agree to go along with it. The Flames can't force him to take his kids out of school, and force his family to take time out of their schedule to get on a plane and fly to the city simply to appease fans who want to clap their hands in admiration of his accomplishments. For all we know it's not the right time for him and his family, and he has requested as such that they hold off. In fact, I'm leaning towards that side.
The LAST thing that needs to happen is some media outlet start digging around and making up a story out of nothing. I would hope all outside sources respect his privacy. It will happen when both sides want it to happen.
