Yes, the time difference is 13 hours. Praying for a perfect rescue.

I mean 15 inches is 15 inches regardless if it's under water or not...no?

If there's one thing kids are good it, it's fitting through tight spaces.

They are interviewing someone on BBC now and he says that many of the boys are familiar with the cave system and they have been in there many times before. Obviously not when it's flooded, but if they are used to the narrow passages and have climbed around in there before, that might help them to be less worried than someone who had never experienced the passages before.
Also heard they were taking out the ones in worst shape first, so hopefully that is a positive sign. I hope they can get the rescue completed before the rains return.

They tried pumping it empty, but it just kept filling up. One reason why the diving is so difficult and dangerous is because the water in the cave has been anything but still. There's apparently some really strong currents at places, plus the water is, or at least was "mostly mud" in other places. (This from an interview of a Finnish diver who's a part of the international diving team.)
However, bringing them out has worked so far.

Another advantage might be their age. They aren't yet old enough to really get that this is dangerous. They might be less likely to panic than an adult. They looked to be in good spirits in the news reports, so maybe they will see it as more of an adventure than someone older.

Update from CBC: Four boys are out and they are the four strongest boys. They took them first to see how things would go. Now they are paused for 10-20 hours as they need to re-plenish oxygen and decide if they need to make any adjustments based on the first four.
The first boy did come out much faster than they expected. He was out at 5pm local time. Originally they expected them to come out at 9pm.

90 divers involved in pulling the 4 boys out.
CBC says it's only 4 out so far.
They ran out of oxygen and are waiting for it to be replenished.
9 still inside
started raining again near the cave complex. Some short bursts but anticipating water levels to rise.
Edit: Staging tanks throughout the journey.
Tanks last about 2 hours
Logistics difficult
Very difficult to do in zero visibility and with currents within the cave.
cnn update via cbc:
4 boys who were evacuated are now in hospital
The boys who were taken out are said to be doing ok.
Pumps are being used to pull the water out, helping mitigate the affect of rainfall
Next 10 to 20 hours is expected to restart
Boys who were brought out were actually carried out
Monsoon is a concern
CBC Has a Dr on expressing some of the medical concerns:
Lack of food will affect muscle
Worry of adrenaline crash during the rescue for the boys. It would risk dropping blood pressure during the rescue
(showing video of the boys and treating what looks like onset of trenchfoot or some issue with feet having not been dry in days...)
Poor air quality: we normally breath 21% oxygen in our air. THey are breathing about 15%. Will affect ability to create energy
Risk of bats and bat poo in the cave. Medical personnel will be examining their lungs
In the dark their circadian rhythm is off. This will screw up their energy levels.
Apparently there is a medical person (or more) staged with the boys right now

That's part of the fun of caving.
It's probable that the cave opening goes down to 15 inches just momentarily.
Or that there is another route, but its water flooded with too much current.

Tha'ts what I'm wondering too. If the choke point is so tight, now the hell did they even get in that deep??
Just a crazy story all around. Glad to hear some boys are coming out alive.
