Think I found the reason...

... someone trying to force Pitt out likely wanted a local semi-celebrity for the nomination battle (and ol' ########## probably stepped forward to do the deed).

Millions political views should have no bearing on his nearly 40 year career as a sports broadcaster. He has a good reputation among the NHL community and was staple on Flames broadcasts for years.
I could care less if he supports UCP, NDP, Trump, Sanders, Trudeau, Harper or if his political views are different than mine.

You're right they shouldn't... unfortunately for him they both suck.

It does matter if you are potentially one of his constituents. Political views matter when you're electing a Politician.
I dont live in Airdrie and so it likely wouldnt affect me so they're less important.
But his constituents should certainly care about the political views of their potential representative.

Right... but he didn’t retire to take up knitting. He’s a politician now. Or at least tried to be.

Barb Higgins and Sandra Jansen were terrible broadcasters if you don't now agree with their political views according to all logic.

Don't support one of the most ignorant, disgusting politicians in history (who's not even in your country) and expect a whole lot of love.

So say that then.
Ha ha stupid Millions?
Not good enough.

I heard the actual story of what happened with that incident from Roger himself. What happened was not his fault at all.

Sorry, supporting Trump and then trying to get into politics in Canada is not good enough.
Ha ha stupid Millions is baby soft compared to what's happening with the policies of the guy he professes support for.
Not good enough? I'm sorry, that's an odd response. People who support that crap don't deserve respect because they support people who have no respect for others.

Glad he lost. In his concession speech he said the UCP would soon be back where they belong. This is a terrible attitude. Voters can decide if the party deserves to form government, but the idea that the candidates themselves think they *belong* there is the arrogant attitude that made me (and others) want to get rid of the PCs.

And that type of response is just further entrenching the right.
Yes "ha ah stupid Roger' isn't good enough. I know you are a big fan of the zingy one liners but how about we actually have conversations.
That ok?

Well, he did say what he said.
One of the first things they teach you in broadcasting school is to assume that every microphone is on and recording or broadcasting somewhere. I remember getting yelled at pretty severely by one of our instructors after I was swearing about something in one of the recording booths at Mount Royal. As he said, you're in a business where you'll be surrounded by microphones and cameras at all times and you never know who's live on-air or recording something at any time.
Mistakes can happen and a bad take can accidentally (or maliciously, in some cases) get put on the air. No one can broadcast a take of you swearing if it doesn't exist.

Further entrench? If actual events, complete inability to govern, total lack of empathy and a running kleptocracy don't change people's minds do you think speaking kinder on the internet is? Lost cause.
He supports abhorrent people and wants to run for a political seat in this province. He got dummied, and ha ha stupid millions is the justified response imo. That kind of politics should be met with derision.
Once he enters the political ring, his demonstrated political leanings haven't earned a "good enough" response.

A lot could change but NDP look to be a one and done government based on recent polls. Millions is referring to that.

So basically instead of rising above to provoke actual conversations you think it is more effective that folks come down to the lowest level.
The inability of opposing sides to debate in a meaningful and productive way is one of the things holding this world back.
It's one of the reasons Trump won.
So just continue to take that approach. You are playing right into his hand.

You think "rising above" will change the minds of people who are still supporting Trump after 18 months of clear evidence that the guy is a piece of ####.
That's incredibly naive.
If you're still supporting Trump after everything that's happened, I really don't have time for you, because you're either for the racist policies or willing to completely ignore despicable behaviour as long as your "team" wins. Either of these makes you totally immune to me having a civil conversation on the internet having any effect whatsover on your stances.
If, however, you're a Canadian wannabe politician and you're retweeting Trump, and in your attempt to get elected, you get ####ing ROCKED, then yeah, LOL at you. That deserves mockery because those garbage politics don't belong here.
I'm glad he got destroyed, because his political leanings are embarrassing. I don't ignore those other things and give him an attaboy because he used to interview players on the team I cheer for.

Oh please. The only thing that people have been doing to oppose Trump is to have these meaningful and productive debates. It's doing jack squat to actually change things (at least as far as I can tell). The Trump voter and supporter does not listen to reason or logic or debate. That's what makes them a Trump supporter. They hate having to actually think through things and they want someone to take charge so they don't have to worry about stuff anymore. You can't engage someone if they won't turn on their brain.
That's where we're at, so yeah, while "haha stupid Millions" is generally an uninspired post, it doesn't mean that it's invalid because the poster refused to engage in a meaningful debate on this topic.
