Stajan honoured in the pregame tonight for 1000 games. His first game? Called up from St. John’s. Was wearing daily contacts. Took them out for the flight to join the @MapleLeafs & had no extras.

Played his first @NHL game without contacts. And scored.

Sure, but usually in the polite sense that it is not good form for an employed coach to publicly undermine another coach, and always—as in the case with Tortorella—in response to specific questions. But there have been a few instances this season where advocates have come out unprompted in support of Gulutzan.

I just get the sense that Treliving is not going to make a change just to placate fans, and there are fairly strong indications that Gulutzan is highly regarded in hockey circles.

Yeah, I am not in a position to comment on what Treliving did or did not do, nor what he should have or not done when hiring his first NHL head coach. But more to the point, neither are you. It's pretty presumptuous to posit that Treliving made this hire inside of an echo chamber.

What should matter most is wins. GG has never won anything as a coach at any professional level. In 4 seasons as a head coach in the NHL, his teams have missed the playoffs 75% of the time. In 3 seasons as an assistant coach in the NHL, his teams have missed the playoffs 66% of the time. As a coach in the NHL, his teams have missed the playoffs 70% of the time.

Those are the facts.

Sure, but they are also what qualify as half-truths:
· 2006–07 ECHL Pacific Division Championship, Brabham Cup
· 2007–08 ECHL Pacific Division championship
· 2008 John Brophy Trophy, ECHL best coach

Gulutzan does not have a good track record as a NHL coach, but it is disingenuous to pretend that he did not get to this level on the basis of some impressive accomplishments as a professional hockey coach.

Same as before, I'll be watching and seeing who is playing with heart and trying to finish things off strong , who is taking advantage of the thinner line-up and hopefully see some good plays made by veteran and young players.

As I've said before there is always a reason to watch hockey, even if its bad hockey because we are gluttons for punishment, and we don't quit on them because we expect them not to either. If its your team you watch in pain and find glimmers of hope in what you can, even if its tomorrow, but enjoy the hockey while it lasts because before too long you'll be anxiously pining to be watching it regularly, even if only to scream at a bad play, or crappy call.

Such is the life of a fan, whether you watch and cheer, or sneak a peak of the scores later on... you know you care.

We all do. It's why we are here.
