Hi guys, sorry to break up the Brady Brodie draft/trade/launch-to-the-moon party but I think I have something good to contribute.
I live in Kitchener and have watched a lot of Rangers hockey this year (including the overtime game 7 thriller that’s on right now), and I just realized my favourite player is draft eligible this year, ranked right where we have our first/second pick.
His name is Riley Damiani and he has been lights out this playoffs and really fun to watch. He plays center and is a real spark plug, born in good old Mississauga and I’m sure Don Cherry loves him. Here is some info on this beaut, hopefully you guys like him as much as I do.

LOL. O'Reilly has decent USHL stats, is big enough and shoots right.

I'll slide in here with a cheap plug. FC's 2018 NHL Draft Guide is now available for order (and immediate download). We've got profiles on 220 draft eligibles, so there are plenty of fourth, fifth and sixth rounders to get a look at. Or, you can dig into some 2019 draft coverage, too!
https://futureconsiderations.ca/2018-nhl-draft-guide/
We took a subtly different approach this year, focusing on more player information and fewer of the features. More 'meat and potatoes' and dropped our price point (by about 20%), too!
Enjoy.

Brady Tkachuk has committed to BU for next year, so anyone who drafts him will not be getting any immediate help.

Told that Brady Tkachuk will return to BU for his sophomore season. The Terriers were going after a grad transfer who was told the offer was no longer available due to Tkachuk returning.

OH MY GOD! Its happening! Hes going to fall to us at 105! Or, Edmonton is going to get him at 10th, and he is going drag his feet and do all 4 years at BU and sign in Calgary as a UFA.
3 years from now, can't wait to hear "Tkachuk goes into the corner, throws an elbow to fend off the defender. Passes across to Tkachuck. He skates to an open wing, throws and elbow and makes some space, circles back, quick dish out front.... he scores! Tipped by Tkachuck infront! Calgary is on the board! 5-1 Vegas"
Come on Karma..... you owe us this at least.

I think this will drop his stock SLIGHTLY.
Could see him falling to Vancouver @ 8 which would be meme worthy.
Then we cant rest easy knowing we have the "good" brother instead of the Valeri to Vancouver's Pavel from years past

Seems questionable. Tkachuk seems solidly in the top 5. You don't pass up better players just because they aren't available to play immediately. A lot of good prospects don't play in the NHL immediately. I'd be shocked to see Tkachuk fall out of the top 5 based on the rankings I've seen so far.
Who's to say both brothers can't be quite good?

Ottawa won't mind waiting a year or so for Tkachuk. They're entering a retooling phase of sorts anyhow.

But they won't have a first round pick next year so they have to make the playoffs. They will probably want someone who can play immediately.
Hmmm, maybe they trade the pick now? Could this be some Tkachuk family maneuvering to get the brothers on the same team?
Actually, I just realized that they can still decide to give the pick to the Avs right up to the selection. But why would you defer a top 5 pick and hope that you finish worse the next year?

Ottawa does have two 1st rounders this year. Their own and Pittsburgh's to offset no 1st rounder next year. The Erik Karlsson situation will probably get resolved at or near the draft as well which should bring Ottawa some extra picks as part of the package.

May not happen, I cant disagree with you there.
Dropping from 4th to 8th may be a bit of a stretch but I definitely could see teams taking any of Boqvist, Wahlstrom and or Dobson before Tkachuk's name is called.
I still think if you look at the top 4 he's the one with the most potential to slide a bit if any, I think the top 3 are a lock.

Keith Tkachuk says no decision has been made if Brady is returning to college or not next season:
http://arizonasports.com/story/15233...raft-decision/
Quote:
Multiple outlets reported this week that forward Brady Tkachuk would return to Boston University for his sophomore season instead of turning pro, but his father, former Coyote Keith Tkachuk, countered those reports on Wednesday.
“I wouldn’t say a decision has been made yet either way,” Keith Tkachuk said. “We just haven’t really discussed it yet. We will wait until after the draft before a decision is made.”
Brady Tkachuk is widely considered a top-10 pick for the 2018 NHL Draft, which will take place at American Airlines Center in Dallas from June 22-23.
Some projections have him taken as high as No. 3. The Coyotes own the No. 5 pick in the draft.
|
Which makes a lot of sense, why commit to another year in college when it is possible the drafting team will want you in the NHL next season.

Or maybe wait that extra year rather than going to a team thats rebuilding or just not desirable currently.

It would be hilarious if Brady T was going back to Boston University so that he could go the college free agent route because he wants to play with Matthew.
