TONIGHT’S GAME
FLAMES at SABRES
This is the second of two meetings between the Sabres and Flames this season.
Last meeting: Buffalo defeated Calgary 2-1 (OT) in Calgary on Jan. 22
The Sabres are 5-3-2 in their last 10 games vs. the Flames; 9-0-1 at home.
This is the 107th game all-time between Buffalo and Calgary/Atlanta; Buffalo has a 52-36-18 series record.
The Sabres are 33-13-6 at home against the Flames all-time.
..while Boomer and Rhett got drunk and ripped on Bogosian?
Quote:
It's so complex it can be dangerous. One of the players made a copy of the playbook and sent it to HFBoards to expose Housley's disregard for the welfare of his players. The play below is directly from the system. There is talk of Bogosian filing a grievance with the NHLPA.
Everybody form a circle
Put your left skate in
Your left skate out
Your left skate in
And shake it all about
You do the hokey pokey
And turn yourself around
Now put your right skate in
Your right skate out
Right skate in
Then you shake it all about [THIS IS WHERE BOGOSIAN INJURED HIS HIP!]
Good guy Johnson wills the Flames to victory
Quote:
I saw we're going with Johnson in net again tonight and am pumped.
Quote:
Somebody always has to jinx it
Quote:
Now that's the Chad we know.
Quote:
Good coverage from Nelson and Guhle, wings have the points covered, Larsson is close to Bennett but Chad totally messed that up.
Quote:
Hockey night!
I am going to be glad AND sad when the season ends….
Good guy Johnson gifting Janko the freshman a freebie
Quote:
Yuck.
Just tuned in to see goal #2.
We’re back to normal then huh…
Quote:
Sam Bennett 2 pts Sam Reinhart 0
Quote:
Jankowski like Riley Sheahan is another Christiano protege. Imagine if they'd stayed put and drafted him... he'd be Connor Hurley 2.0.
Quote:
It's striking to see all the homegrown talent on the Flames.
Quote:
Looks like we're back to being ****
Quote:
Squared and mid-distance, would really like him to make that save.
Quote:
Did Robert Raymond just say 11-1 shots in Calgary’s favor??
Quote:
I stepped away for 2 minutes to tuck my son in and missed the goals
Kinda feel good about that.
Quote:
And more of the Johnson we know.
Quote:
Chad's hot streak started with Calgary, looks like it's ending with Calgary as well.
If Mason Raymond thought he was Crosby and was deployed like Troy Brouwer
Quote:
Nolan again... WTF.
Quote:
Well that was an ugly sequence started by Nolan
Quote:
We have a guy streaking down the slot with the puck
oh, it’s Nolan, nothing to see here. Sigh.
Quote:
Keep in mind the great Jordan Nolan is an expert on winning cultures.
Quote:
Lol. Jordan Nolan has to be the worst player in the league.
Quote:
What's sad though, he had the puck and was trying to make plays more than any other Sabre not on the O'Reilly line for that period.
Quote:
Good that Nolan is getting first line minutes
Quote:
Players with more ice time than Nolan in period #1:
Okposo
O'Reilly
Larsson
Lord help us.
*Edit: Meant to say "forwards"... Botterill must have thought we were getting too close to Ottawa.
Good guy Johnson saluting his former captain
Quote:
Pull him.
Quote:
Oh my god.
Quote:
We've seen this picture show before.
Quote:
It’s like the Toronto game without the bounces going our way
Quote:
Yeah, Zems
face the puck when blocking….
Quote:
Well, if anyone asks me where does the talent bottom out for the Sabres, I now know it is one below criscolo.
Quote:
3 - 0
look slow tonight.
Good guy Johnson ignites the first line again ..gets caught
Quote:
Bye chad
Quote:
Fall down, get back up, run into your own player, curl back around, run into another one of your own players, pass across, 1 timer, 4-0
Quote:
Laughed out loud at the 4th goal. Oh brother
Quote:
I was so excited for Chad to get to .900 tonight, too.
Quote:
Tonight has been a total team effort.
Quote:
Sad,
Chad pays for it, but Lehner knows too well the feeling.
Quote:
Is lehner wearing the pads he abandoned when this ****storm of a season was still young?
Quote:
This is the flames 4th line? Is that what I heard. This looks like a 5-3 power play for Calgary.
Quote:
That shift in the 2nd where we were pinned 5 on 5 in our own end by the flames 4th line was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen this season and that says a lot.
Quote:
Lehner looks like he is mother****ing the team under his breath as he skates to the bench.
Quote:
Finally got the kids to sleep, time to check in
Nevermind.
Quote:
Calgary is just able to do whatever they want offensively
no challenge from Buffalo.
Quote:
lots and lots of back door plays
yeesh, they are looking worse than the Panther game.
Lehner is a clown at times. I mean don't go for the head like that, they will always call that.
Quote:
Good. Do it again Robin.
Quote:
Lehner exploding on someone would be the only redeeming thing from this game
Quote:
Punching Tkachuk in the face has been the highlight of the game.
Quote:
Robin Lehner second star for punching Tkachuk
Punch Tkachuk in face = get Tkachuk in face = let goal in after the tilt
Quote:
Like that wasn't happening?
Quote:
And that's what I expected. :|
Quote:
My laptop shut itself off after the fifth goal. My wife turned and seamlessly said "even the laptop hates watching them".
Quote:
Well, no more worrying ....
About winning too much for a couple days….
I’m learning one thing at least….
Never bet on hockey.
Quote:
Thought we might see psycho Lehner there. Damn.
Quote:
I'll be so disappointed if we don't get to see Lehner destroy somebody at least once this season. I really thought Tkachuk was gonna get it. What a tease.
Quote:
oh.. that was only the end of the second?
Hey, at least we got that
Quote:
They scored a goal. That should make the fans go home happy...
Quote:
Ryan Miller shutout lol
Quote:
WE'RE NOT GETTING SHUT OUT!
Quote:
Well we didn't get shut out. On the flip side...we didn't score for the first 59 minutes.
Everything is Fixed
Quote:
Chad Johnson is throwing the game.
Quote:
I love how these Flames commentators are gagging about destroying the Sabres. Not like we can beat that team but it's not much to be proud about.
EDIT:
Not sure why I don't see hilarious stuff like that on Oilers broadcasts where they show Klefbom make two obvious defensive plays and an assist.
I wonder if it helps players confidence to have smoke blown up their rear instead of being criticized for every single mistake (guilty).
Quote:
I'm surprised that blade is legal.
Quote:
I'm not sure Buffalo knows it's okay to touch the puck and maintain control of it.
Quote:
Come on Buffalo. Be a hero
Quote:
As Friedman just said, they've beaten some very good teams lately. Maclean slurping their nuts though...he might as well have said "Thank God they play Buffalo, easy win for the Flames".
They're saying Smith practiced again today with them, but too what extent? Everyone is keeping hush-hush on that so I think he's facing some light shots without having to move much. If he was going full out, they'd be salivating at his near return.
Quote:
Buffalo doing Buffalo things.
Buffalo is one terrible **** show of a hockey team. How in the hell have the Oilers not beaten these guys in three or four seasons.
Quote:
HA HA DBAG POS Tkachuk gives lehner a snow shower that was so obvious. TONS of time to stop.
Lehner punches him in the face. Flames PP
It's hilarious these garbage refs let him do that and it's not 4 on 4.
Man Lehner. Should have made him choke on that mouth guard.
Quote:
If the Sabres pick second overall and take Brady Tkachuk I will laugh my ass off.
Quote:
Flames get the terrible Sens, the falling Isles and the terrible Oilers
easily could go on a 4 game winning streak here

Flames did play a great game, just about everybody stepped up.
No question that the D has been given the green light the last 2 games to jump up into the rush far more than I’ve ever seen under this coach. Pretty much every D man was doing it whenever there was any kind of opportunity, and it was very effective. The forwards were doing a great job of covering as well.
I don’t think it’s because GG has lost the room, but I wonder what instigated the change, and why it took 140 games.
If they keep up that style of play, and are able to keep a high level of intensity for the rest of the season, who knows.
And goaltending. Need to get some goaltending.

This was the best top to bottom the Flames played all season. They would not be where they are in the standings if they played more like this earlier.
A solid performance tonight.
Despite dominating in every facet of the game 5v5, the PK looked scary tonight. Buffalo got a lot of good looks and Rittich and a lot of good luck were the only thing actually preventing goals from being scored. I think it's going to start letting the team down again here.
Good game frompretty much everyone though. Injury could explain why Monahan's been playing like a 4th liner for a while, hopefully.

Pretty great game. Hopefully we keep attacking with our D as aggressively the rest of the way - it seems to be making a difference in our transitional play.
I'm still not sold on our chances of making it, but if we play 14 more games of passionate, aggressive, desperate hockey I'll be a lot happier regardless of the result.
