My guess is 5-6.

I think the only thing saving Burrows' career here is the fact Hall wasn't seriously injured on the play.

This is the exact type of play the NHLPA should comment on. It isn't a hockey play gone wrong, it is completely out of the bounds of the game and hell even the much talked about "code" in hockey.
That being said the NHLPA will say nothing.

Should be ten games for deliberate intent to injure. Doubt he'll get that much but I do think he'll be suspended. Likely 3-5.

I am expecting a big suspension. They wasted no time offering an in-person hearing and the media attention is something the league hates. If it is not at least 10 games, I will be disappointed.

Reminds me of the time I got a temp-ban on the forums for being happy he got injured that one time, given he's a piece of garbage human being and his injury would give an NHL opportunity to someone much more deserving.
My thoughts have not changed

He is getting a "phone hearing" so the suspension would be limited, I think...it is a travesty that he is not getting the "in person hearing" that usually precedes the book being thrown at a guy.

He was offered an in person hearing and turned it down. That still means he can get a 6 game or more suspension even if the hearing is now done by phone.

He was "offered" an in-person hearing so he must have turned in down (waived his right to one) and will have a phone hearing instead.

He is getting an in person hearing. He declined actually flying to New York for it, so it will be conducted over the phone, but it still counts as an in person hearing (otherwise, that would be a pretty easy way to prevent getting a long suspension).

Too cowardly to face the music in person. For cases like this, the in-person hearing should be mandatory.
Not that 'heat of the moment' is ever a real excuse, but he has like 5 seconds of not being physically engaged with anybody before doing this. Plenty of time to come to your senses. pathetic.

I was thinking 10-12, but considering who he is and what he did, any chance he gets hammered with a 30 game? that would be pretty cool.

Should be the season and it would be good if they could find a way to ban him from the league.

The minimum is 6. However, since it was likely deemed at attempt to injure and this isn't his first offense I think he'll get at least 10 games. Should be more though. Spin wheel-of-justice, spin.

I can't wait to see the discussion regarding Burrows and the Canucks 'Ring of Honour' in a few years.

The way I understand it, there is no minimum. In person hearing just allows them to exceed 5 games for a suspension. They could still go less if the want.

It should be noted that he doesn't qualify as a repeat offender for DOPS purposes, does he? A quick google search suggests that he's only been suspended once, and it was in 2014, so far more than the 18 month expiry period for that.

I thought that was only for the amount of money he loses.
