A good PP is the only thing between this team and being a contender. I Don't think we have to lower our expectations.

Miss the playoffs: disaster.

First round exit: I'm not gonna lie I'll be a little disappointed.

Win a round: season is a success... build off it next season.

Anything past that I'll be ecstatic with. I don't see why we can't expect this team to win a round. Maybe not expect but benchmark that as a successful season.

I expected them to fight for 1st/2nd/3rd in the division, but I didn't think anyone from our division would be pushing for the President's Trophy, let alone fricken Vegas.

So as long as they don't crash in the last half of the season, they are about where I expected them to be. Although before the 7 game win streak I was starting to worry that I'd over estimated them.

If numbers are your only metric, Smith's are not top 3 in any category outside of raw save totals, and that's because we didn't have a backup until Rittich came in halfway through the year.

Oh, and Fleury has a .942 Sv% and a GAA of 1.77. That's not "feel good", that's damn good and he deserved the nod.

The top 2 sv% goaltenders haven't even played half their teams games and the goalie 4th likely wont play again this season. As of right now Smith would be in the running for the Vezina. Vasilevsky's to lose at this point though.
