You're right, he's choosing to play a profession where people in cold Canadian cities like Winnipeg and Calgary furnish him a lavish lifestyle for him and his children and his childrens children, and they're crying like little snow flakes about the cold. Get bent.
These things are not the same

Where do you get crying from? Seemed like a pretty unemotional opinion of a city they went to for work. All of the emotion around this seems to be coming from the internet, not the players.
Wheeler, Buff, and Little extended themselves as pending UFA's but were all under contract. i wouldn't count them but they def chose to stay in Winnipeg long term when they could have tested the market.
I'm sure they chose the organization and not the city, but, clearly the city isn't a huge barrier for Winnipeg to build and retain a team. I couldn't possibly care less that big name FA's won't want to sign in Winnipeg. Let New York and LA overpay for free agents.
That remains yet to be seen, doesn't it? I mean, sure, there is a NHL team in Winnipeg, but until they actually win a playoff round (to say nothing for even a single game!) I am not certain that the Jets qualify as an especially successful team.
Like it or not Winnipeg's no-goodness will always present an obstacle to building the best team in the NHL.

Actually it's really not. The proof is already there. I'm not even sure why I'm feeding a Jets troll but the Jet's have had zero issues re-signing their RFA's and pending UFA's.

Man there are a lot worse places on this continent than Winnipeg.
When you live in the US for long enough, you realize that you'll take the extreme cold any day to get out of some hell holes on this side of the border.
I am not excusing what the player said, it was classless.
But some people seem to be missing what was said. He didn't say it was the worst dump in NA, he said it was the worst place in the NHL to play. That's 31 major cities. We're not talking Stockton or Regina here, we're talking Nashville and San Jose and Boston.
As someone who lived in Winnipeg for a significant period of time, I can't argue with him. It isn't the greatest place to visit.
Still a dooshbaggy and unnecessary comment though.
players that could have signed with any NHL team that picked Winnipeg:
Blake Wheeler
Byfuglien
Steve Mason
Bryan Little
Perrault
Kulikov
Enstrom
Shaun Matthias
all UFAs that picked Winnipeg
Tucker Poolman could have been a UFA as he played 4 years in the NCAA.
and Schiefele signed for an 8 year deal rather than a 6 year deal.
Evander Kane signed his RFA contract for 6 years in Winnipeg, the same situation and term as Gaudreau.
Bogosian signed a 7 year deal as RFA after 5 years in the NHL
seems like that would compare well with players choosing to play in other cities.
My favourite thing over the last year has been suddenly realizing that Ricardodw is clearly a Jets fan while none of us noticed. All those years he trolled us and we thought he was a Flames fan.
Once you see it, you'll see it everywhere he posts. I actually feel stupid as almost all his comparisons over the years where he bashed Hamilton and other Flames were to the Jets and pointing out how they had done everything better in building their team.
I guess because he had us so confounded by his stats and indexes we missed the forest for the trees, lol.

Yep. Been there done that, there are some very unfortunate areas in the U.S. the most striking thing to me is drive a few miles and you are in some of the most opulent areas in the world.

A few of us have been saying it for a while.
And yeah, once you go there, you see it in every one of his posts.

You are definitely living in the wrong places. Like Canada, the US is a beautiful country full of amazing people IMO.

Whether or not it is the destination of wealthy NHLers I am sure we can all agree that Winnipeg is a dump, and there are many, MANY more desirable places to live or visit in Canada.

I wouldn't want to live there and don't blame the Sharks for not enjoying their visits.
And that is why we have stereotypes. The two in BC give the two most "I live in BC" responses. Go figure.
The best thing about Winnipeg is Manitobans.
The worst thing about BC is British Columbians.
I love going to the island for fishing trips but gawd the people there. When the Costco cashier in Victoria saw that I am Calgarian she said "Calgary doesn't have an ocean". And so many of them are like that. I would love BC so much more if only Manitobans lived there.
If I was living in Winnipeg I would be happy that snob culture doesn't like my city. In fact, Manitoba Tourism should just embrace this rather than trying to fight it.

It's extra difficult to notice when you just fire the scroll wheel into high gear at their posts.
