I guess what I'm suggesting, is that if the Flames wanted to recoup picks, they could do it with an asset like Brodie.

He's in his prime on a good deal with 2 years left after this one. The Flames should be able to get similar return to the Hamilton & Hamonic deals, if they wanted to.

I just object to the notion that the Flames are in a bad spot. They're not. they have a number of assets that would garner a lot in return if they decided to shift gears. If they want picks, they can go out and get them.

Getting a lottery pick though would be much harder if that is what Treliving ended up trading away.
