One thing about the old school design is that as it ages it looks just like an inoffensive old building. Overstyled arenas like Rogers place and even the Dome tend not to age well.

I would just like to state that I forgot this had already happened and thought the entire thing was new. Here I am blissfully reading the thread from the beginning until I got quite a few posts in and saw Tavares was at some announcement event.
The once-thriving Victoria Park community no longer exists, but I'd like to see a structure incorporating sandstone and brick. Something really different than the Saddledome.

It's on Stampede grounds, so you're probably gonna get it in some capacity.

Love it. No spaceships please.
I realize the early renderings are just guesses as to what the space can look like, but I think it important that the building blends in and is part of the community. Not some behemoth plunked down from outer space. I am no architect, but sandstone and brick, maybe some glass to add a more modern touch reflective of our downtown.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

There will definitely be some modern design elements, but the choice of exterior should include some traditional materials reflecting the history the neighbourhood (one of the city's oldest). Red brick/sandstone with Victorian-era flourishes.
I hope the urge to go overboard with cowboy/western motifs are avoided. It's technically not on Stampede grounds.
