I don't know if hate is the right word, I think it is frustration with the fact that he has been not good at all defensively.

Really it sucks, but I think we get a better result at home with more favorable matchups

Yup. I thought the same thing. He got burnt once or twice but who doesn't over and entire game? He also was quite good with his outlets tonight. Bad time to make a big mistake though.

I think there's very few people in this thread that hate Brodie. Most of us just hate his play this season.

they got shut down pretty thoroughly by columbus. coughed the puck up all over the ice, like everyone was a step or two behind. couldn't get any shots on net, overpassing, bobbled pucks, etc. 3m line with the only sustained zone pressure that game. smith was outstanding and the reason we got a point. a bad break for brodie at the end there but he and hamonic probably had one of their best games of the season up to that point

on the other hand, columbus is legit. they played the flames as good as any team this season. werenski and jones are a beast of a pairing and their average age is what, 20? hope the flames perform better next time they meet

I don’t blame Gully for pulling some random balls out of the bucket on who to send out at that point in OT- usually the team’s so dominant in the extra frame that one of the first two forward pairings has it settled by then. As soon as Janko and Versteeg hit the ice, I felt like we were in strange unexplored territory.

Not sure what the game plan was, but the amount of turnovers at their blue line was ridiculous. Flames only scoring chances were once they got it behind the CBJ D, not sure why they were so reluctant to do that tonight.

Geez, it was a tight checking game and save for the first half of the second was pretty even. Not every game is going to be loosey goosey.

I actually thought that was one of Brodie's best games, but he had some bad luck on the goal. The ice was terrible all night long.

Now they have to come back strong next game, that is the real test.

Without going back and checking the GT, there are probably about 12 people in the last 5 minutes who suggested we trade him immediately.

Brodie's giveaway was pretty bad, but for it to get to that point, we had to go 60 minutes without scoring a goal. Maybe we should talk about that?

Agreed. People are wanting to ship him out like hes a 3rd pair dman like really? Ill admit he hasnt been the best defensively since January but hes still a crucial part of the team

Dudes, this is nonsense.
To quote you, what kind of 'mickey mouse' ignores context. Yes, we are winning. However, anyone who watches the game knows Brodie has been horrible and GG has been doing some of the worst calls I've seen. Take for example; Janko and Versteeg on, in OT... You can not reasonably explain that.

In his defense he was quite good defensively tonight. A puck rolling off his stick is a bad break. It wasn't a blown assignment.Iit wasn't getting undressed. It was an unfortunate break and a very unfortunate time.

As someone else pointed out, Brodie has always been pretty suspect defensively and prone to really bad turnovers, it was just masked or ignored a few seasons back when he was just on fire offensively.

That said, if there's one part of the game where Brodie's benefits clearly out weigh his flaws it's 3 on 3 OT. I'll take the occasional brain fart like that from him in 3 on 3 that costs is a game in exchange for what he creates and how his style helps us have such a good OT record. He helps us get far more bonus points then he costs us.

Seems like the game plan tonight was to just dump it in and grind out the game 0-0 and go to OT or shootout. There was absolutely no offensive pressure at all.

Of course there is, emotions are high and people hyperbole things in the heat of the moment. I bet the majority of those posters once they took a breath realized that is an overreaction. It happens.

He's contributed to costly goals against and some that developed in the neutral and offensive zones where he decided to not skate hard on the backcheck when every flames fan know he's capable of keeping up with his foot speed.

Trade talk is a bit much but some criticism is warranted. He's not doing some pretty routine nhl dman things all that well.
