His cap hit is his problem. Otherwise half a dozen teams would trade for him.
IMO Vegas is in danger of getting a reputation which could impact FA signings in the future.

It's starting to look like he may have zero value to the Knights. So the question becomes, does McPhee see more value in a Brouwer at this point. The question about LV roster players is much more concerning to them among the defense. They could take on a bottom six leader, and not care about salary. McPhee is such a wild card.
The question for Calgary would be whether the player pouts if he only gets bottom six ice time here.
Another wild card is Jagr, and if a European player would put more value on playing out a year with him.
With all of that said, I'm still thinking he heads back to the KHL. It's just enticing considering how well Panarin and now Davodov are doing.

If we could offload Brouwer for this guy it’s a huge win, regardless if he goes back to the KHL.

I don't quite see it the same way I guess. Vegas is 8-1, GMGM is feeling no pressure to change anything at this point, especially a non-sensical trade for Troy Brouwer. Seriously, Brouwer for 3 seasons at 4.5 mill is more of a wild card then Shipachyov potentially walking for nothing. What's he going to lose if he does nothing, a free agent signing that hasn't factored in to his teams success to date? If he makes the move he winds up with ANOTHER waiver eligable player in the NHL, which is already limiting his decisions, as well as potentially losing a player on waivers. I don't think McFee is a wild card, he isn't backed into a corner at all. I also don't think that Brouwer is going anywhere this year. I'll say this for him, his level of give a $*** has finally improved the last few games. I know, small sample size.

Troy Brouwer has negative value at this point. Maybe if he picks his game up and he can be sold at the deadline for playoff depth we would have some actual value. But there would likely be zero interest in Brouwer around the league.
You'd think that Flames fans after enduring basically the exact same discussions about Wideman would have learned this. For two and half seasons we had people talking about trading Wideman. The bottom line was he had absolutely zero value. You'd have to pay a team to take him. Same with Brouwer at this point.

I see all of brouwers pp and pk time that he has been getting (that fans have not liked) as showcasing. And to brouwers credit, he has done a good job with what he has been given.

Brouwer has been looking a lot better recently. I did a double take when he pulled away from the defenseman and rang one off the inside of the post last night.

The obvious fit is in Columbus, given Shipachyov's history playing with Panarin and the fact that the Blue Jackets are actually icing Zac Dalpe on an NHL roster.

Plus they have cap space, young assets to trade, and a history of Russians not hating life there besides Filatov

@EricEngels
Vadim Shipachyov has decided he’s going back to Russia. Contract termination will follow after unconditional waiver process #Sportsnet
