Does that factor in Foo's contract how does that work?

Since we all enjoy HF quotes here and there:
Quote:
Scouting report on Murphy since people are asking.
Pros:
A hell of a slapshot
Not a horrible skater
He used to do amazing hip checks
Cons:
Slapshot doesn't work in game situations
Not a great skater
Small
Low hockey IQ
Low confidence
Afraid of contact
Afraid to throw hip checks since he got called for clipping
Honestly he seems kind of "slow" in general
Doesn't use his stick skills to play effective D
Trajectory:
No longer improving

Max cap hit for an entry-level deal is $925,000 plus a max of $2,850,000 in bonuses. Foo's 23 so it'll probably a 2-year deal.

I went by Capfriendly numbers, and those numbers don't include Foo yet. If he makes the team, then that's another 925k towards the cap.

Makes you wonder what other potentially great deals King got his grubby mitts on and cancelled.

Murphy is an AHL/NHL 'tweener to move back and forth depending on injuries. Allows a spot for one of the kids on the main team.

It took a while, but Treliving finally got his cheap backup. It was either this or buyout Lack for Carolina.
Flames will be paying $5.625 million combined for goaltending next season.
Carolina and Arizona will be paying just under $2.8 million combined for Flames goaltending next season.

Lack is fine. He put up really good numbers on a decent Canucks team, and really mediocre numbers on a bad Hurricanes team. I'm sure he'll be a fine backup.

People upset at this trade is firm proof of the "can't please everyone" saying. This is an absolute no-risk, no salary implication move.
Please, please tell me me what the issue is? This is at very worst a neutral move, and I think even that's generous.

Lack for essentially nothing. We basically take on Murphy so the Canes can drop Kanzig in their AHL squad (Charlotte?).
No risk, low reward trade, basically. Not too bad.

I'm a big fan of this move. I think Lack is much better than he played in Carolina and is only a couple years from solid play in Vancouver.

Earlier on the FAN960 Friedman made a suggestion that the Flames would be going the trade route to get a backup.

How is Carolina a bad team?
They had better fancy stats than Calgary.
They put up 87 points and had the some of the worst goaltending in the NHL.
You could make an argument that if they would have had Elliot last year they'd have made the playoffs.

Murphy was a great prospect coming out of junior. Watched him many times and loved his game. Hopefully he finds it here.

where can we recommend him to go for tacos in Calgary?
As a Flames fan living in Vancouver, this was the only guy I liked on the team. Huge fan favorite there. Hopefully, coming back out west he can get back to form for when he played for vancouver.

I think there is a very good chance Lack is able to bounce back here. It seems he's a guy who is fun loving and can keep a room loose so that's a really good thing too.
Will be interested to know Treliving's thoughts on the entire trade.
