Decent margin for the Flames now - although its still pretty close.

I feel like Toronto is winning based on fanbase size alone...

I have been doing that every time I come in to vote for the Flames

"There is literally NO WAY the Flames are doing as well as they are. That is not a top 4 logo in this league, let alone a top 2." - Salty Oilers fan comment with us winning against the wings. Love it.

Yes there is. More people have voted for it than the Wings logo.

Pretty simple really.

Jihads are dumb. It would have been more interesting to see where we actually finish.

Off-topic, but I just found a used Darren McCarty jersey at a second-hand store for $40. Should I buy?

I think the Flames have a top 5 logo in the league...

But to me the Red Wings logo is easily the best. Maybe in all of sports, it's just so classic and perfect. I have them in a tier by themselves and then Montreal, St. Louis, Chicago, and the Flames in no particular order rounding out the top 5.

Yeah but if we don't vote, who will?

It's not like a bunch of unbiased fans are voting purely on personal preference with no slant towards who they cheer for.

These types of votes are always popularity contests.

If it was D. Jones jersey you wouldn't even be asking!

I pick that jersey up every single time for 40! Do it up Scorp!

I have voted at least 25 times. I personally moved the percentage 1.7% for the Flames.

They're onto us... look at this comment:

"There's a forum, Fire on Ice, where Flames fans are spam voting the Flames logo to win."

and the response:

"It HAS to be!! Does Chris know?"

huh.

You can't spam vote, it only accepts one vote per day for me. Besides, it's not as though this thread is maniacally popular and has the full support of CP.

Isn't it possible that people are actually a fan of the logo? Crazy thought, I know.

All this thread did was bring clicks and eyeballs to a vote that otherwise would've gone unnoticed.

The idea that Flames fans voting for the Flames logo is robbing the competition of its integrity is asinine.

Every fan base will vote for their own logo, when available. There is literally no way to filter the votes to distinguish fans voting their team from people just voting the best logo. Of course our logo is more likely to be our favourite.

Would these same idiots commenting demand that all votes were rigged if it were posted on the main page at HF? After all, it has fans of every team and surely each team's fans would most likely vote for their own team.

Getting page clicks from fans is literally the point of the poll. It isn't some noble scientific endeavour. I'm sure whoever runs the site wishes every fan base was engaged as ours and providing page views like we are.

As an avid follower of Icethetics (I STILL type icethetics.info) I am skeptical how much our passion for the logo should be taken as a negative to this poll. We talk a lot on this site how much we appreciate our teams logo, and I don't think that's just homerism. We're just proud to have a team we really like also sport a fantastic logo. Especially the white logo.

Could it just be that everyone is surprised just how much more people like the white C to the black? Any other poll the black logo would be what's voted on, but this year voting has changed the white C is allowed to compete.

Don't get me wrong, I respect the viewpoint entirely. I can see how this is perceived as unfair, and a poor judgement of an unbiased sample but did that have to be the only point? Or can we celebrate the most popular logo led by passionate fans of that logo?

Up to now, Chicago has always been celebrated as the best logo in the NHL. I don't dislike the logo, but as many people are now echoing about the Flames logo... it was never my #1. I've honestly always preferred the (ironically) 2 logos we've been up against in this: Detroit and Minnesota over Chicago. I think that sentiment was also driven by their fanbase.

I'm careful to disagree, as I really respect and adore what Chris has built, but I just wish our passion was a positive. Nevertheless, let's all respect the wishes of the creator and let the results play out with the new calculation.

"UPDATE (7/4): After a day and a half of voting, I'm disappointed to report that there has been some stuffing of the ballot box in this round. I won't name names, but the offenders haven't even bothered to cover their tracks either, which actually makes it easier for me to separate the real votes from the fake.

It's pretty pathetic, really. These are people who don't think our tournament is meaningful enough to warrant seeing real results — but think it is meaningful enough to make sure their team wins. Just pitiful.

So I'm disabling the option to view the results. The numbers you would see have been somewhat tainted. On the back end, however, I'm able to get a clearer picture of what's happening. I can do the math and drop out the falsified votes. When the polls close, I'll announce the winners advancing to the final.

Thanks again to those of you who are enjoying this. I feel bad for those who aren't. Hope it was worth it."

Ok. I'm sure that the results that they announce will be completely untainted and unbiased. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight...the anticipation is killing me.
